    Blendtec Good But Not Best

I retired my Vitamix blender after over 15 years. Bought a Blendtec instead of a new Vitamix. I found the Blendtec to be powerful, compact and easy to use and clean .. I rated each of these factors as good or better than my old Vitamix. I think the best analogy is that Blendtec is somewhat like a powerful sports car as compared with (Vitamix) a bigger, smoother luxury car. Blendtec is sort of like slam/bang and done ... be careful to hold on tight cause it might get away from you. I like the results I get with the Blendtec and would recommend it for the price, however, if you can afford it, I think the Vitamix is a five star compared to Blendtec's four star.

  • Most critical review

Great Blender but over heated on 1st day of use.

This is really powerful and more quiet than our old Vitamix. It would be perfect if it didn't shut down for overheating on the first day we used it. Now I don't want to return it because I don't know when we'll get it back and I'm not even confident it will be repaired if we get it back. I think I'll just try to open it up so it can breathe a bit better.

  • Good, not great

I bought this to upgrade my Nutribullet. I like that the container is much bigger and multiple shakes can be made at once, but flax seeds get stuck to the side in a way that didn't happen with the Nutribullet. Additionally, I still have to cut up fruit and veggies, such as apples and carrots. I was expecting to be able to throw a whole apple and a whole carrot in to the blender with everything else and have it work, but this didn't happen. After figuring out how everything had to be cut and then layered (leafy things at the bottom, cut apples and carrots, frozen stuff at the top), it works well. The base can move at the beginning of the blend cycles, so I steady it for the first few seconds. Makes a good veggie shake though!

  • Great product....BUT....

I love the look. Much nicer then a vita-mix. Super nice and easy to use. But...mine broke after two days. They did send me a new one, but it took a week to get here and I had smoothie loving company coming. But most people don't have that problem. So maybe mine was just a lemon. The company was very easy to deal with and they did send me a replacement without much hassle. That is why I took off a star. My new one, so far, is flawless.

  • #1 Blender

This blender is amazing. I can not believe how this blender is able to liquify fruit and especially vegetables like the way it does. It's easy to use and clean. This blender was a powerful and excellent investment for me. Blentec, I thank you so much.

  • This blender is worth every dime

The Blendtec Total Blender is worth every penny, even new. I got mine on a crazy sale, refurbished. Refurbished is also completely reliable, and comes with a massive warranty, reflective of the company's confidence in the quality of their product. I chose the Wildside Pitcher because it's a good size to make smoothies for 2 people at once. The regular pitcher is just a bit too small for that, and I could never seem to make my recipes fit. The Wildside is just right. The blendtec fits on my counter, under my cupboards (unlike the Vitamix). I love the set-and-forget pre-set programs, even for manual speed choices (I can always shut off early if I want to). This blender does things that regular blenders just can't. I think the main difference for me is the fineness that it's able to get the particulates, thanks to the high RPM and high horsepower (6 times more power a typical blender). With frozen spinach in a green smoothie, a regular blender makes it... drinkable... but not nice. The particulates are really large and leave an unpleasant texture. With the Blendtec, those become perfectly blended in and the whole smoothie is... well... smooth. Like.. silky smooth. With kale, a regular blender would just flat out choke. With the blendtec... it's just another Tuesday. Seriously... I know this thing is crazy expensive for a blender (even with the deal I got). I get that. But I also use this more than any other appliance in my house (except my fridge, which is obviously running 24/7). And it's perfectly capable of multiple blends daily, for many years. I see these things in bars (don't even get me started on the awesome piña coladas and/or margaritas this thing makes... I did mention silky smooth, right?) and coffee shops (think blended mocha). I get to have it in my kitchen, and I am the envy of all those who know. That's not why I bought it, though. I bought it for the green smoothies, and this machine makes those easy enough for my every day breakfast, and my health has improved dramatically since doing that (cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, weight). My partner lost something like 80 pounds in 18 months on a 2 smoothies and a meal diet, and that was with ZERO exercise, and she was never hungry (she just carried a bottle of smoothie with her for lunch and had a bit whenever she was hungry during the day, and then came home and ate a typical dinner with me). Long story short... if you're considering this blender... and you're debating if it's worth the investment... YES. Yes, it is... and then some.

  • Outstanding!

Love the Blendtec Total Blender - purchased refurb - looks and works like new. Blender fits under cabinet, is powerful and so easy to use. Learning as I go, but have noticed that it struggles with real thick smoothies, but just need to learn to adjust. Amazing what it can do with the dull blades - no worries about cuts or getting dull. Super easy to clean up. Yeah, maybe Vitamix is better (don't know - never used one), but this Blendtec was a great deal, and a keeper.

  • Not Yo Mama's Blenda!

Powerful, relatively compact (easily fits under upper cabinets), with lightweight Wildside jar. Is this the perfect blender? Maybe. At least for us it is. Has six preprogrammed function buttons, plus a pulse button plus spead up/down buttons. We use "pulse" to nearly instantly make salsa. We use the other preprogrammed buttons for perfect - and I do mean perfect - fruit and vegetable smoothies. Works great, looks great, a 7 year warranty, and you WILL appreciate the lightweight Wildside jar! A deal and a half.

  • Does the job

When you see the videos online where this blender crushes phones and stuff, you think it is unstoppable. It does get overloaded easily if there is not enough water. The smoothies, ice cream look better on TV and don't taste really good. All in all, I am going to keep it to make hummus and toum. Not something I would use on a weekly basis.

  • BLENDTEC TOTAL BLENDER, WILDSIDE JAR - EXCELLENT SMOOTHIES

My NEW FAVORITE BLENDER - I had a VitaMix for over 40 years. Decided to change it up - I did my homework, read all the research and viewed the comparisons. It was either a VitaMix or Blendtec. Obviously I decided on the Blendtec. It is powerful, it pulverizes ingredients into a super frothy smoothy. I like that the power button is in the back - it is easy to use and easy to clean. The only concern is because it is so powerful it shakes when you first turn it on but settles down immediately as it does its job. I love it. I hope I got a good one and it last for a very long time. I am very happy with my purchase. Can't wait to make soup!
