Great processor for gaming and other more intensive computing tasks. I upgraded from an i5-7500 and this was perfect for that. Really helped speed up my computer's performance, especially for gaming. It's not a super modern processor (Skylake architecture/2015) but it absolutely doe the job and compares well even with newer i7s. Easy to install, just don't forget the thermal paste ;)

I had one of these on my PC for a couple of years , It offers 90+% of the performance of the 6700K but with drastically reduced heat output . In that never ending pursuit to PC performance I 'upgraded' to the 7700K and regretted it ... hardly any performance increase and LOADS more heat ... the 6700 non k strikes a nice balance between performance and low heat. I had my i7-6700 colled via a Xigmatek Dark Knight II which kept it under 60C even under full load. so you can cool these cheaply and very well with simple air cooling.

A good longterm investment in a strong CPU. I paired it with a good cooler: DeepCool Gamaxx 400 and Noctua II thermal paste and it runs stable and well. Runs VMs well and compiles code fast especially if you have a good SSD as well.
