I purchased these because I crochet in rows and they are essential for straight edges. This is because placing a stitch marker in the 1st of each row prevents you from adding extra stitches in the next row. When you crochet in rows it can be hard to know where you should place the last stitch as the top of each stitch looks identical to the turning chain.
