That area is a bit darkened. The crystal only has a small amount of wear around the edges, but is otherwise clear. New battery installed on 11/30/23, which will last several years.

Pretty, but.....
This is my second skagen watch. I've had my first one for many years and appreciate the quality and look of it. When I saw this one on ebay for this price, I was excited about getting what I hoped would be many more years with a nice time piece. Not to be. The watch I received is very pretty but is lacking the quality feel of my first one. The clasp is hard to fit. I'm actually afraid it will fall off when I'm wearing it and it will be lost. Not sure if this is actually a genuine Skagen. Maybe a cheap imitation. Kinda feels like it.

The MOST comfortable watch. I wear it 24/7 because it's waterproof -- so I can wear it in the shower or bath, plus all night while sleeping. The cobalt color on the face is beautiful. The mesh band is so smooth; the mesh is so fine, it sparkles in bright light. I've had it about three weeks, and it's kept its time to the second too, by the way!
