  • Excellent Construction, Sharp Images

This lens is excellent in build, photo quality, and features. You won't know until you experience this with an Olympus lens-the manual/auto focus clutch on the lens is amazing!! Switching from MF to AF and back at the pull of a ring is invaluable really. I use this on my new Lumix G9, and I don't EVER wish I had opted for the Pany zoom with IS built in. I often use this on a tripod so I'd turn off in lens IS anyway. When I shoot handheld the glass is of such quality images will be sharp if I'm doing my proper job on the dials. It is SOLIDLY built, zoom is all internal. I consider it in keeping with the MFT motif of being a smaller lens than a comparable DSLR APS-C or FF equivalent (lots smaller relatively speaking), but not so small that you don't enjoy that...telephoto heft in your hand. If you enjoy telephoto zooms, this will not disappoint.

  • Amazing Lens for the Price

Amazing lens for the price. Very sharp throughout its entire range. A little heavy for a m43 lens but that reflects the build quality, which is superb. With the E-M1 (or Mark II), it's not too difficult to shoot with one hand, though your arm may get a little tired after a few hours. It's much easier to just support the lens with your offhand. IBIS allows for very slow shutter speeds, so if your subject isn't moving much, you can keep ISO low. Manual focus clutch is a nice feature as well. And the 1.4x TC really provides a nice reach boost. Sharpness is still good wide open on the long end, though to get the same levels of sharpness you may want to stop down one stop. But it is certainly still useable wide open.

  • Good lens!

Great lens. If you have a micro 4/3 camera (has smaller sensor than full frame) and you want the sharpest pics with it, get the best lens you can afford (like this one). If you are just taking family, pet, or travel pics and top quality is not as important, or you are not doing printed enlargements, then get a good cheaper lens.

  • Good Pro Lens, Depending on What You Do

Purchased this lens to replace Panasonic's 35-100 F2.8. While a bit longer at the short end - 40mm instead of 35mm - I liked the extra reach that this lens offered. It has 50mm more reach than Panasonic's flagship long zoom. The big zoom and focus grips are great, and the lens focuses quickly, while maintaining focus throughout a zoom. However, if you're going to shoot in anything outside of good light the lack of image stablilization requires that you shoot on a tripod. With the Panasonic zoom, you don't need to do so. The lens is very good for video and balances well on a tripod.

  • An EXCELLENT telezoom for M43

Resolution at all lengths I shot was excellent. Weight is certainly NOT too hight; it balances nicely with EM-1.2 with batterygrip. It'll be in my bag a LONG time.

  • Amazing truly Amazing

If you owned an Olympus or micro four-thirds camera I really think this is a great lens to have in your bag. With a zoom lens from 40 to 150 it really covers a lot. The photos come out tack sharp and color rendition is perfect. Maybe a little pricey but well worth it. Some people buy it for sports and nature photography but I use it for portraits and gives a nice little bokeh not as much as the fast primes of Olympus, but good enough

  • Very Powerful in a Small convenient and superb build!

This lens is awesome. I decided to leave Full Frame and my 70-200 lens weighed in at 3 lbs and when combined with the camera it was not fun for traveling. Now paired with the Olympus OMD system I have great resolution, range, and weather proofing in a manageable weight. The built in hood is pure genius. At retail it is pricey but the supplier I got it from was very fair and outstanding communication and delivery. If you are in mirrorless with Olympus - this lens must be in your kit. And now I want the MC-14 1.4 teleconverter for this which will make it even sweeter.

  • Loving it! You won’t go wrong with this lens

I haven’t owned the Panasonic 35-100mm 2.8 yet, so I can’t do a comparison. But the reason why I went with this lens is because GH5 has in body stabilization, so I can sacrifice ver. 2 dual IS. This lens works so well with the Panasonic GH5, images look incredible, it also makes you look extremely professional showing up with this lens. This lens is well built, the lens hood is retractable, that saves me lots of time. I do both videography and photography, this lens is capable to do both, focus is fast and quiet. Also if you wanna switch from manual to auto focus you just simply pull the focus ring towards yourself. Best lens I ever owned. Oh and it’s not as heavy as canon 70-200L lenses.

  • As Good As the Reputation

This lens ranks very high on my all-time list. Back when I was shooting Canon, the 70-200 2.8 IS was absolutely the best glass a guy could own, with few disagreeing with that assessment. Well, this lens is very nice, maybe equal that Canon lens. Very sharp, great range and excellent size. If you're wondering if it is as good as everyone says I strongly encourage you to rent one and give it a try for a week, would be well worth the investment to do so since it is not a cheap lens. Good luck.

  • Another trophy in the long lines of Olympus excellent products

This zoom upholds the traditional excellence of Olympus. The zoom is well made and solidly built. The focus is snap. The image quality is top notch. I own 3 other zooms by Olympus and this one will be on the shelf with the rest. It works beautifully with my Panasonic GH4 camera. Highly recommended for micro 4/3 shooters.
