  • Great portrait lens, get it if you don't already own one

I only dabble in photography and shoot mostly in auto mode using a Lumix GF3. But this lens has taken portrait photography to another level for me. I can control depth of field (in aperture priority mode) quite well with the F/1.7 and the 42.5mm reach is just right, not too close to the subject. The lens came in very good condition, no visible wear, scratches or dents. And the glass itself is clear without any fogging or mold. I normally don't take care of my gear as I throw it in my bag without a case or lens cover (cringe cringe), so a used lens is definitely the way to go for me. Very good price. I'm glad I went with a know good quality lens. I've included 2 random photos I took after a few practice frames.

  • Great Value, Best Native Lens I Own

This is an amazing little lens at a great price. Nice and small. Great image. Fast. Quick AF. Nice bokeh. Image stabilized. The only downside is also an upside, and that is that people and clients don't expect such a great image from a little camera and lens setup.

  • Great Affordable Lens

The Panasonic LUMIX G 42.5mm f1.7 Aspherical Power OIS lens is an absolute bargain. The lens itself is mostly metal, solidly built, and Panasonic includes a hood, as well as a storage bag. The image quality and the quality of the results are top of the line.

  • I love all of my lenses... BUT.

I'm a hobby photographer shooting with a Panasonic G85 (highly recommended). I love every lens in my micro four thirds lens collection... the highly capable Panasonic 12-60mm kit lens... the awesome Olympus 12-40mm F2.8... my take-anywhere pancake Panasonic 14mm F2.5... and the screaming value that is the Olympus 40-150mm F4-5.6 zoom... ... but in the "WOW" department, my Panasonic 42.5mm F1.7 easily takes the cake. From center to edge and wide open, this lens tack-sharp and focuses instantly. Obviously the in-lens stabilization and quality glass work together to achieve this. I have seen head-to-head comparisons versus the highly vaunted Leica Nocticron 42.5mm F1.2 and honestly, I just don't see the quality difference that would justify paying so much more for the Nocticron. This is a SMASHING lens for portraits. Just today, my neighbors (who have a DSLR but had seen my work with this lens) asked that I come over to shoot their portrait before leaving for a gala this evening. (I can't add their photos for privacy reasons but I'll post some of my other favorites.) The pics did not disappoint. I haven't used it much for video but many online reviews say it's one of their favorites for that purpose.

  • One of the best M43 lens

    - very sharp and excellent image quality - affordable - large aperture - very fast focusing

  • Best value for a portrait lens for micro 4/3 format

This lens is tack sharp with beautiful bokeh. The background blur is as smooth and creamy as any lens I've ever owned. The image stabilization is the cherry-on-top of an already excellent lens.

  • Absolute must for every MFT shooter

Easily the best MFT lens I've used. I believe, unless you go for Leicas, this one is an absolute must in any shooter's collection. Fantastic for portrait work and, as it turns out, amazing for street photo! I actually use it more often than 14mm one for that. Highly recommended!

  • Good, But

If your subject is moving even slightly it hunts on my Olympus body. If I am stable and my subject is stable it is great, but for event photography probable not. It is really hit and miss with this lens you either get stunning images or it's hunting.
