Excellent Value - Superior Sound
The Marantz SR7010 has been superseded by SR 7011. While there are differences the resultant price drop of nearly $1,000.00 on the SR 7010 makes it great value. I had an older Onkyo model for a number of years and it served me well. That said the Marantz literally blows it out of the water both is sound and features. After calibrating this AVR using the supplied mic and the built in Audyssey software I was amazed at the difference. The sound comes from literally everywhere. Dialog from the center channel is clearer, the system bass is thunderous. The Marantz features Dolby Atmos, DTS: X, and DTS: Neural X. These newest sound formats add overhead and height speakers to the mix for a much more immersive sound experience. The SR 7010 has enough built-in amps for 5.4.2 surround, that's 9 speakers plus a pair of subwoofers. Using an additional external amp you can use 11 speakers plus a pair of subs. This was very easy to set up, I had it going in a matter of minutes. I do have my cables and speaker wires labeled for easy installation. The amp comes with pre-labeled tags that you can use to identify your mess of spaghetti. If you need wireless speakers in other rooms then go for the newer SR 7011 but remember it will cost you a grand more. Either one is a great choice for dynamic home theaters.
