    Everything I ever wanted in a cable

    So, I bought a Cisco switch and as with so many switches there was a cable missing. In my case it was an extremely important cable as I needed one to enable firmware updates on my switch. So after spending at least 4 seconds searching on ebay I came across the exact cable required and I placed the order. Just a few days later the cable arrived and as expected it worked perfectly. Even now, several weeks after the initial use it still works just as well. This cable was delivered very fast, it works just as well as any cable could and even the color seems evenly distributed across the entire object. It is truly all I could ever want from an RJ45 USB Cisco Console Cable. At least in the 6ft cable division... had I needed 7ft or more, this cable may have required some type of extension cable. But knowing the wonderful people at ebay I am sure they would have been able to supply that too. Excellent cable experience? Yes! Would I buy it again? No, I already have one now Do I recommend this cable? Yes, but perhaps not for everyday use

    Not recommended for connecting to Cisco equipment.

    In short, neither of the two cables allowed me to connect to my cisco routers. I had to buy a serial cable with a usb adapter, which conicidentally worked first time using the same driver this failed to use. Cables were detected in windows but would not connect to router. Not recommended for connecting to Cisco equipment.

    Works great

    Tested on Windows 8.1 and 10 x64, works great. I use it to connect to a Cisco switch. Costs a few quids more than a console cable and an USB to serial adapter, but this way you don't have to deal with two cables and it's less bulky.

    Doesn't work with some Cisco products

    This product did not work at all with my Cisco 1140 access point. Gooling reveals that cheap USB adapters (like this) do not work because they don't follow the +6v threshold of RS232 but only reach +5v. This works for some Cisco products but not all. Waste of money for me.
