Great sound in a small package for a low price - perfect for a bedroom

I am using this with a Pioneer wired subwoofer in a bedroom to replace a Visio VSB-200 soundbar that died. To save space I mount it above the TV. Pros: 1. Is was easy to set up and get running. I just remounted it where the old soundbar was, and transferred the cables to the new soundbar. The mounting bolts are in a different location than the old soundbar, so it took some cursing to get the bolts in. 2. It uses the same remote codes as the VSB-200 it replaced. 3. It sounds surprisingly good for its size. The sound is often nearly as good as the home theater sound in the family room. 4. It does not need a subwoofer for good sound except for shows with a lot of special effects or loud deep bass music. You could omit a subwoofer to save space or money. 5. It supports Dolby Digital, unlike the VSB-200. 6. It powers itself off after a while when there is no audio input (a feature that can be disabled). Cons: 1. I can't get the auto-power-on to work -- not a big deal because my DirecTV remote turns it on, and Vol+ on my Sony remote turns it on. 2. I am using digital audio input, and the sound is slightly delayed. I get an echo effect if the TV sound and the soundbar are both on. 3. Some deep male voices have a boominess that you have to get used to. I wish it had a flatter low end frequency response. 4. It has separate bass and treble controls, but they do not seem to affect frequency ranges that are useful. The best sound is at the center settings. 5. The simulated SRS surround sound does not work as well as the VSB-200 version. This one does not fool me into thinking sounds are coming from behind me like the VSB-200 did. 6. Voices are not always clear in loud scenes that started with 5.1 channel audio sources. I might have been happier with the version of this soundbar that has a separate center channel speaker (the 3.0 channel soundbar). The cons are all minor issues. Overall I am very pleased with the soundbar. It was a great bargain.

Looked like just what I wanted

It amplifies all of the hissing and buzzing sounds in speech often so badly that I can't understand what is being said. I tried it for two days then disconnected it in frustration. I haven't called the suggested maker contact yet. I did like the way it directed sound to the front of the TV unlike the built-in TV speakers which direct the sound louder to the sides.

  • No instructions

Sorry I haven't connected it yet since there were no instructions included. Did I purchased a used sound bar? I don't know. I'm an 85 yr old and not too savvy on electronics. Although it seems very simple the U Tube videos are not much of a help, just confusing me further. Two ways to connect? Which one is preferred? Can the remote be synced to the master remote to control the volume? I'll probably call Comcast to connect it if they offer that service. I'm willing to pay whatever they charge, just anxious to get it connected.

  • Great sounding sound bar, very good value

Great sounding sound bar, very good value, easy to use, easy to connect to TV thru multiple connections such HDMI ARC, optical, headphone output, RCA. Nice remote.

  • nice

Nice sound -- definite improvement over the speakers in our 60 inch set. For some reason, when we first installed the sound bar it didn't seem to automatically turn on. Not sure what we did, but now it stays on or at least comes to life when we turn on the set, which is what we wanted.

  • Good value

Great sound quality for the price! Lots of connectivity options. Digital Audio cable could have been longer but got another one off Amazon and it works just fine.

  • Simplistic and it just sounds good.

Purchased the Vizio soundbar to supplement my HiFi...... for when I don't feel like warming up my Electrocompaniet amp. I am simply impressed by how much performance this sound bar has regardless of its value proposition. No its not at the level of a High-End HiFi but for something so compact and simple.... it performs amazingly. Highs and mids are clean with a good level of detail and articulation. Its also able to get to relatively high volumes without loosing composure. Its a great sound bar irrespective of price. I'm using the Yamaha YAS-106 with my other TVs and I think the budget Vizio outperforms them in terms of overall audio quality. I do have my paired to the Energy ESW-M6 minisub to get the needed bass extension. I find myself using the separates less because the Vizio is enjoyable without the fuss of warming up my DAC and Amp and plus the wife prefers the simplicity. Its far better than the JBL SB450 I use to have. If your priority is audio performance over features..... this is the smart buy. Compromises: Light bass without a sub. The display requires decoding but you get use to it. Lacks HDMI connections but does have the option for Digital coax and optical.

  • Sound Doesn't Work

The remote that came with the Vizio SB3820-C6 Sound Bar doesn't work, even with new batteries. The remote that came with the Vizio TV Model E221-A1 doesn't work with the Sound Bar either. This leads me to believe that the sound on the Sound Bar itself is not working. Please explain to whom I should return the Sound Bar to get a replacement that does work.

  • Good buy.

Unfortunately, this product arrived as the 29", not the 38". Despite my disappointment, I plugged it in and tried it out. The sound quality was way better than my tv (that had the speakers facing the back wall) so given the good price, I kept it anyhow. It took a moment and a search to get the remote settings right, but all in all, a good buy.

  • Perfect Size for my 43" TV

Mounted it above my TV using a universal mount. All bars I have looked at cover the remote sensor if you mount them below. My tv is a Vizio so there was no need to program my universal remote. This has a really nice sound and I no longer need to turn the volume up and down during shows. I'm 65 so it might be a little different for younger people.
