Orchestral sounds in a Hardware box
I bought this specifically for ambient/drone composition sans computer/software.
Originally, i wanted a roland jv1080/2080, but got tired of waiting for the one that had the right sound cards for a reasonable price.
This box has deep editing capabilities all available on front panel: depending on how deep you go it can be time consuming compared to a good software GUI, but its easier than some similarly-aged yamaha and korg synth modules i have worked with; Emu modules seem to have very long attack/decay parameters (which is what i was looking for) and Nice sounding filters.
I wanted orchestral sounds and thankfully many of the Virtuoso sounds are pretty good...some not so much, but there is alot on the menu to choose from.
Midi-wise, it has 32 cc's: some fixed #'s, but most are assignable to whatever # you choose.
Overall, Very satisfied with my purchase.
I know software stuff (East/West) sounds amaaazing and has easier editing, but i wanted a computer-free symphony box and the Virtuoso is working for me (for now).
