Reviews"Every time I seem to think I am tiring of the PI genre maybe another novel like this one pops up and affirms my love of the genre. I loved the first one in this series so I was excited to read this one and it didn't disappoint. In fact, I loved it even more than the first book. The story flows better and faster, the prose is even tighter and the mystery more interesting. Haunted by the memories of the man he killed and the death of his wife Rick Cahill now works as a PI for a larger firm, snapping pictures of cheating husbands and wives. When a lawyer (great, fun character) asks him to prove a young man did not murder his family he gets involved with a dangerous group of bikers. As he investigates the case gets more and more personal and in the end Cahill is forced to face his demons and embrace his dark side. The ending might really surprise you and had me anxiously awaiting book 3. This is shaping up to be one of my favorite new series." --Son of Spade (Blogspot), "Sharp, suspenseful, and poignant, Lost Tomorrows hits like a breaking wave and pulls readers into its relentless undertow. Matt Coyle is at the top of his game." --Meg Gardiner, Edgar Award-winning author, " VERDICT Coyle doesn't disappoint in this sophomore entry after the Anthony Award-winning Yesterday's Echoes . In this tale we find all the elements that garnered the first book such high praise: complex characters, snappy dialog, a fast-paced plot, and a clever blending of crime noir tropes with today's culture. The gods seem to take delight in persecuting Rick Cahill, but readers will relish this fast-paced and complex whodunit." - - Library Journal, "A terrific new take on classic noir! Sam Spade would raise a glass of whiskey in appreciation." --Hilary Davidson, Anthony and Crimespree Award-winning author, As with author Matt Coyle's Yesterday's Echo , I was hooked on the first page of Night Tremors . With continuous suspense, an exciting, well-laid plot, varied characters, and the ability to use descriptive words to slip readers into scenes, Coyle has another surefire hit on his hands. Rick Cahill does private investigative work. Work of which he is not really enamored. He tails and photographs adulterers! While it has paid for his new house, this job 'stains his soul'. He has nightmares about a man he killed two years previously. Daytime, his murdered wife haunts his every move. And the police chief would like nothing better than to put Rick behind bars, blaming him for his wife's death. He is approached by a lawyer who wants Rick to help him overturn a murder conviction - a man who has spent eight years in prison for the vicious murder of his own mother, father, and younger sister. New evidence has surfaced. Rick is not too sure about the man's innocence but finally agrees to look into the case and possibly find reasons for a new trial. What ensues is a very good read. Night Tremors kept me turning pages quickly. And I enjoyed every one., VERDICT Coyle doesn't disappoint in this sophomore entry after the Anthony Award-winning Yesterday's Echoes . In this tale we find all the elements that garnered the first book such high praise: complex characters, snappy dialog, a fast-paced plot, and a clever blending of crime noir tropes with today's culture. Following his Anthony Award-winning debut, Yesterday's Echo , Coyle astounds readers with Night Tremors , which packs the punch of a rocket-propelled grenade. With more plot twists than a California cloverleaf, there's one hairpin turn that left me breathless-and Rick Cahill on the verge of taking his last breath. One of my best reads in years, Night Tremors has a spectacular "Matt" finish.", The author has captured the essence of a PI in the character of Rick Cahill. He is determined, gutsy and a thirst for the truth , no matter the cost. You find yourself on a roller coaster ride with Rick that leaves you breathless at times and on the edge of your seat until the very end. As you find yourself glued to the book anticipating the end, a twist appears that has you wondering who the bad guy really is. I cannot wait till Matt Coyle writes another thrilling book that keeps me guessing till the very last word. If I could give the book more than five stars, I would., "A terrific new take on classic noir! The former police officer turned PI still has nightmares about a man he killed two years ago, and he feels that he is responsible for the murder of his wife. Despairing of taking more cases involving the tracking of unfaithful spouses, he decides to help a lawyer he despises free an imprisoned man who may have been unjustly convicted of murder. The case puts him at odds with both the police department and a nasty biker gang and leads to a high-speed chase around San Diego.
