Quality read, characters to identify with, a world that is believable.
Joe Abercrombie produced a trilogy that will pique the mind for years to come. The story is timeless: the art of warfare. Character development: his people are not one dimensional, they grow, mature and change as the story evolves. Humor: even the least funny people will enjoy the humor that occurs in the story. Descriptions of the time and places: Many different places are described in the story, fleshed out. The cities seem real, the poverty, the riches, the architecture, the mountains, trees and even armour and clothing. I really enjoyed a clean novel, no deep descriptions of sexual encounters - just matter of fact explanations and why it happened. Not a lot of foul language; there is some, but it makes a point. It is not just thrown about because the writer likes to fill in space. Loved the trilogy and will read it again.
