Having read a lot of reviews I decided to buy this lens to go on my Nikon d60 fx camera and have found it excellent for landscape photography and close ups of large objects where you can't step back. Sharp and crisp images hand held with the vr turned on, in my opinion well worth the money and a very useful addition to my kit.

Fantastic lens! Bought for use with the D800 and it has produced sharp and contrasty images consistently. Good build quality, although a bit plasticy compared to the 14-24, but feels very solid with a typically nicely damped zoom ring. It's ability to take filters easily is a huge plus and VR has come in handy for handheld stuff. At the price point it sits at I think it warrants serious consideration compared to other choices. Not ideal for DX but for those with FX and wanting to use filters this represents a very worthwhile purchase.
Superbly well made and performance is excellent. Its bigger and heavier than most wide angle lenses. Its made of metal not cheap plastic.

Superb sharpness from this solidly built full-frame ultra-wide lens. The distortion is easily corrected by software so the only real drawback is the physical length, but it is lighter and handles better than, for instance, the 28-300. I have tried the Nikon alternatives - The 17-35 is a bit faster but heavier and does not have anti-vibration. The 20-35 is flimsy. The 14-24 is impractically large and bulbous and has a less versatile zoom range. This 16-35 is Nikon's best wide angle zoom.
