Great product - if you read the instructions.

Lovely product but be aware that you have to make one full full turn clockwise BEFORE setting it to the time in order to get the loud ring, otherwise you only get a quiet 'ping'. this might be a problem if the user has dementia.

    A Bit Quiet

Very nice looking and works OK. Alarm is not very loud and can't hear it in the Living Room. Of course, I can just take it with me so no real hardship.

  • Nobody messes with Mr Ticky

Having broken three pingers in a year - I share my house with a small child and an over adventurous cat who both knock things off shelves with monotonous regularity - I decided I'd buy a slightly more expensive one. I read reviews - I know, what a saddo - and generally researched pingerdom. The result was Mr Ticky. Reassuringly expensive yet not bank-breakingly so, made by a firm with a good name and with a kind of utilitarian design that will never be high fashion but shouldn't date too badly, either. We've had Mr Ticky a few weeks now and I am very pleased with it. It's simple to use, the bell is good and loud and it rings for a long time. It looks cool and it's easy to wipe down - important since it lives next to the cooker so I need to be able to give it a birthday occasionally if I've been boiling jam furiously or frying things a bit over enthusiastically. While I suspect that, like buttons, the innards of all these things may well be made in the same factory in China somehere, Mr Ticky has proved to be surprisingly robust so far, having been dropped a couple of times without breaking and survived repeated attentions of a murderous nature from our cat. I like that the bell is a lot louder than some other pingers I've bought. It also had a guarantee. Inevitably, it was eyebombed after arrival but that's an occupational hazard in our house. In a nutshell then: looks good, works well and for me, it's been worth stumping up the extra cash.

  • Simple and works well

It seems well made and is easy to operate. Simple clockwork, no fancy buttons that don't work properly after a while. Ring could be louder. Quite expensive for simple clockwork but it works well.

  • Loud

Nice loud ring lasts long enough not to be missed, Feels like decent quality. Remember, turn the dial right round and then back to the time.... I suspect bad reviews are from people who don't read the instructions.

  • Nicely made Mechanical Kitchen Timer

The Aluminium finish blends well with my other kitchen appliances. Easy to use and has a fairly loud bell alarm - the elapsed minutes are clearly visible. Unlike the timer it replaced, which was always getting knocked over, this one has a fairly wide base and sits firmly on any flat surface. In summary, my expectations were fully met at a fair price.

  • Style and function impeccable and does the job too.

In form and appearance this device is admirable, much better than the cheapo (sub £5) article it replaces which fell apart when my grandchildren got impatient and tried using it as a football. This new one has style and a solid feel to it, has worked perfectly on all the dozen times I have used it. Its clicking sound (whilst it's counting down) seems a trifle quiet but its ringing noise (at conclusion) is very loud and sustained enough to alert me (often described as semi-deaf) even when I'm dozing in front of the fire. Certainly if it continues to function in this fashion for the next 25 years there'll be no more burnt cakes. With hand on heart I proclaim (at this very early stage) I am delighted with my new acquisition, and I hope it will outlast me.

  • Basic, no frills, easy to use and fit for purpose.

Very easy to use, with a loud ring you cannot miss! Like the fact that it doesn't need batteries. Great value for money, too. Delighted!

  • simplicity itself, and no batteries!

oh so much easier than setting the digital ringer on my cooker. I can take it with me into the garden, and keep my pies from burning. No batteries required, and it has the name salter on it. the ringer isn't quite as loud as i thought it might be, but that's the only downside.
