Used as potentiometer cleaner
I was looking for a substitute to Deoxit D100 and F100 as they are quite expensive. Plus, there doesn´t seem to be a product specifically designed to clean potentiomenters -including the deoxit products. I read a review that recommended this product and gave it a shot.
To clean pots two things are needed: cleaning and lubrication. This product is meant to clean contacts, so it does have cleaning chemicals. It also contains Polyphenyl Ether, a lubricant developed for space applications (pretty cool, -I recommend to read the Wikipedia entry on Polyphenyl Ether). This lubricant is designed to not be displaced by mechanical movement and it protects against corrosion, exactly what is needed in a pot.
I´ve used it so far in two audio amps, one from the 90s and one from the 80s. The volume controls were noisy and not constant (one channel would come on and off). This fixed both pots.
Note: I´ve cleaned and lubricated these pots in the past with other products, and they failed again after about 2 to 5 years. Hopefully this is a permanent fix for the life of the amps, but only time will tell.
The spray can has an ajustable valve with L, M and H settings (low, mid, high). I used it in the low setting as I´m applying short bursts into the pots. It does come with a small straw.
I definetely recommend this product,so far has worked great for my application!
