The MediaPad M5 8.4 is *THE* best ~8" Android tablet available today, period.
Arguably the best value high-end and small form-factor Android tablet available (actually, arguably the *ONLY* one, to be fair). 2017/2018 flagship level CPU performance with decent GPU performance, GORGEOUS screen, decent battery, lovely quality craftsmanship, and fairly frequent updates make this a wonderful tablet to use generally.
Negatives? No 3.5mm headphone jack (though adapter included) ... just move to bluetooth already IMO! The battery could be slightly bigger, and I would gladly have given another mm or two in thickness for 15% more battery. The major complaint is that Huawei's software "sees" the device as an oversized phone instead of a tablet. Hopefully the next update to Android Pie fixes this. It also doesn't have the latest and fastest networking specs, though 200mbps real world speeds are more than enough for tablet use. Also the 32gb of internal storage really should be double the size as standard today, especially given the SDcard cannot have apps installed directly to it (only the data). It's not a huge deal and it will be solved with the imminent Android Pie update, but worth mentioning still.
Anyway, I got it factory refurbed w/ 12months warranty for barely 60% of the RRP and as cheap as the MiPad4 shipped from China. There's NO QUESTION which is better in my eyes.
The M5 is the best ~8" Android tablet available today period, and can be found for seriously cheap if you look carefully.
