    Good Timer and Temperature Switch

This switch works well but there are a few points you may need to be aware of. (a) Surprisingly, the screen has no back light so it needs to be in a location where there is good lighting to see it. (b) The instructions for setting the switch were not in the pack so I had to use the web site to find out how to customise the settings because the modes are not intuitive or obvious. (c) The four switches on the corners of the screen are easy to knock and accidentally change the setting on the switch. Again, be careful where it is installed. These are just a few observations which will not put me off buying the switch again. Darrell.

Sound build quality but poor performance

Not as reliable as it's predecessor the ET05. Main features: Unreliable in operation - does not always turn on & off as set. Poor LCD screen - if the 13A socket is at 450mm high (standard), the angle of the LCD screen does not allow the settings to be viewed without bending low and depending on background lighting, with a torch! The instructions for programming a switching cycle through midnight are not clear as they use terms such as 'last period' (does this mean the last switching setting 1, 2 or 3?) and 'start the next days on period' inferring it is a 7 days timer rather than 24 hour unit. These terms are not used elsewhere in the instructions. I could not get programming through midnight to work.

  • Patcients needed.

All the buttons are a little poor quality and difficult to use. The display is also difficult to read in poor light. Difficult to program but worked really well after a few attempts. Don't be put off by the downsides this is a great value piece of kit that does everything it says it will.

  • Very versatile.

Provides a permanent timer and temp control without relying on the mains supply for power. I have it wired to my off peak supply to delay the start time of a heater. It's small battery is charged through the mains and keeps the settings when the off peak power is off. Works well.

  • Timeguard ET05 - battery??

Used these before the type with the grey buttons with no problem, however this model loses settings when removed from the mains supply. Suspect the battery is not connecting properly. May be just that I ended up with a dud, Find it not quite as easy to setup either as the original. St two stars as it still can be used.

  • Quality product with good features.

Easy to set up, I like how you have the option to dispay the temperture of the room.

  • Inaccurate

This thing digitally displays the temperature about 3-4 degrees (C) less than ambient (checked against several thermometers known to be accurate). So the set temperature is similarly affected (set to 4C, switches at 8C). And there seems to be no way to recalibrate it. Outcome - I don't trust it, and it will use more power than necessary if used as a frost stat, which is why I bought it. Instead, I have now wired up a 10 amp froststat to switch a made-up extension single gang DP socket for a low power tube heater, achieving the same result for lower cost, and that can be recalibrated if needed simply by removing the good old-fashioned rotary knob and repositioning it on the spindle!

  • Superb money saver

I have four of these controlling various types of heaters and would swear by their money saving ability. It is best to use them plugged into a socket that is half way up the wall. The lower they are the less accurate they will be.

  • A good value quality product.

This appears to be a well made product that has an operating range down to 0 deg C. The price was reasonable, the packaging robust, preventing damage and the operating instructions clear and concise. Would recommend.

  • Amazing product.

This product is amazing and was just what I wanted to control an electric radiator where its own timer and thermostat had broken rendering it useless, and saved me the cost of a new radiator. But the Timeguard could be used anywhere where you need to control a heating device, e.g. greenhouse heater, etc. It appears to be of good quality and the instructions and setting up procedure are very clear. Works perfectly for me.
