Fantastic player, great value for money
I purchased this product after doing extensive research online about various Sony Walkman models, both old and new. I already own an Astell & Kern SR15 unit, and in all honesty have been disappointed with it from the very beginning, due to very poor battery life. That unit cost more than three times the cost of this Sony unit, so obviously there was some trepidation about sound quality. The reason I purchased this Sony Walkman is because many reviews stated amazing battery life. It is a slightly older model, but I wanted it a) because of battery life and b) because it features an FM radio which more recent models got rid of. I am not an expert audiophile, so I can't say for sure whether the Sony audio quality is poorer than the A&K, It might be a tiny bit, but it's barely noticeable, and I am more than happy with that trade-off for better battery life. The display is bright and clear, navigation is easy and intuitive, there are a range of audio modes to play with - Clear Audio setting is my default - and volume is fantastic. I've not even exceeded half volume and it's more than loud enough. For anyone wanting to move beyond a smartphone for their digital music, I can't recommend this player highly enough. At this price it is a fantastic player.
