A Sandwich Toaster for easily prepared Toasties.
This item works fine to produce toasted sandwiches. The size of the base plates enables quite a large slice of bread to sit comfortably therefore giving ample space for your required filling. Heating time appears to be about 4 minutes and I usually cook the sandwiches for 4 - 4.5 minutes. I find that this time gives a slightly crispy finish to the sandwich and a rich golden colour. It seemed odd to butter the bread on the outside, but having used the device I now understand why. A filling of just cheese was a small disaster as most of it melted and ran out of the toaster, won't make that mistake again. A mix of tuna, strong cheese and finely diced red onion works exceptionally well and give the basis of a complete meal, simply add a small salad or a few potatoes. My next experiment will involve bacon, cheese and egg in some form , probably scrambled. Cleaning is slightly awkward as the base plates are fixed to the machine, which means they have to be cleaned in-situ. Although the non-stick coating does make the task reasonably straightforward.
