The best trap and very cheap
And you get two for less than £9, sometimes £8. We have a small garden, rodent free for 25 years, but suddenly the rats came. After 9 bait stations from the Pest Controllers failed, we had all the household remedies fail, and bought poisons and snappers. Of 7 traps now in use, including the most expensive at nearly £20, these are the only ones that have caught them. Peanut butter has been the best enticer; it doesn't even need to hang on the hook, they will just nudge it and be trapped, even the biggest rats. It's no good releasing them somewhere else and it's unpleasant to knock them out. The whole cage will fit into a large bucket of water though it will take a minute to drown each one. We caught four in two days. Beware that the open door will also attract birds. They can be released if seen in time but a few tent pegs or sticks around the entrance, clear of the dropping door will prevent birds entering. An all round excellent product and cheap.

spend more money & buy a decent one
It arrived packed in a grey plastic postal bag, it was bent out of shape and required quite a bit of work with pliers to get it to work. The wire that hold the bait is so flimsy it bends out of shape as you try to put the bait on it. I wish I had taken notice of the previous reviews.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

100% capture with a couple of minor quibbles
A large trap suitable to catch mice and rats . I caught 4 mice in 4 days in my garage. Brilliant for catching rodents. Highly recommended. Other traps I bough simply didn't work. Use bait such as chocolate ( I hung chocolate biscuit in side and worked a treat ( pardon the pun). I only gave it 4 star because I had to send one of my two cages back as it had a faults hinge so it didn't close after the mice ate the bait and secondly you make sure the hook is set so sensitively so that the gate will close once he mice tug at the food. These are minor quibbles and I certainly buy another one again as I had 100% capture with one of the traps .Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Did the job
Great for the price, had to tighten the springs and alter the hooks before catching anything but can't complain for the price. I'm using them inside a shed and a few rust spots have appeared nothing to worry about but if using outside I would give them a coat of spray paint to stop them rusting. They do work well and I've caught a few mice with them luckily my rats disappeared on there own so can't comment on rat catching ability but I think they'd do the job. This certainly works, even getting the smallest mice, not had any rats yet, but you can tell its cheap as its getting rusty, might need some spray paint to make it last, had to make adjustments to the bait hook and drop the spring down a hole to make it super springy, but for six quid its ok.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Had a rat problem already caught 2, the traps although cheap are well made, work well and the mechanism is easy to set and nice and sensitive but not overly. They’ve been sat in my garden for a few weeks now and although they needed a bit of WD40 to keep them smooth they’ve held up very well.
