A good option for app heating control
I already had a standard Drayton programmer {LP722) and this version, uses the same 'common" backplate. You are supposed to isolate the existing thermoset and wiring (short them out the contact wiring, specifically). I will get around to doing that but in the mean time you can just set the stat very high.. 30 degrees. That doesn't affect the temp of a room, with the new pragrammer of course but it does the job of shorting out the wiring, for you (unless you home really does get up to 30 degrees!!!
You need broadband in the home and you need an iPhone or Android phone for the app.
You can set multiple heating events during each day or keep the same schedule each day. It is very flexible. A plus point with this system is that whatever you change or schedule in the app is sent to the programmer unit.. Like the old system. If the Internet goes down you can still program the unit manually as before.
You can get more sophisticated controllers. Nest/Hive etc. But these require a professional installation.. Not plug and play like the MiGenie. not sure what happens when the net goes down with Nest systems. I think all you have then is purely temp control.. Not a likely scenario though.
I'd but this again though.
