Buying at the price I did, this version was well worth a watch, undeserving of some of the reviews it received, I found it quite enjoyable from the point of view of the special effects, good but not overdone, changes in the story at the end and the lack of input from the actors didn't spoil it, tongue in cheek for the purist, but is was a good train ride.

Very pleased with itself. Pushing the usual right-on p.c. agenda. Modernity must intrude, even in these period dramas, or else they get no funding. Many of us go to the cinema to escape being bludgeoned to death with the huge virtue-signalling hammer. Many of these actors just running through their usual routines. Looked marvellous, but as with a lot of Ridley Scott’s (and his production company’s) work the drama was almost a sideshow. None of the actors given much room to breathe, so you didn’t much care what happened to them. Surprisingly short running time - if this had been done better it wouldn’t have been over-long at 2 hrs 40 min, but this was well under 2 hrs. Suggestions at the end that they hope to give ‘Death on the Nile’ a similar treatment. I will give that a miss. The Finney version, and Suchet’s come to that, we’re much better.Read full review

The purchase image appeared to suggest the DVD was in a case, but the stiffening outer merely contained a 5 x 5 white envelope with disc only. Due to greasy fingerprints on the non play side, it was the first ever DVD I have purchased that I felt the need to sanitise before handling. The other side had numerous scratches, so I ran it at 20 x normal speed to watch for any playing glitches. I found a suitable cover print on Pinterest and supplied my own case. I will not be caught out again with an unnecessarily cheap purchase, even if this one did afford me some entertainment to occupy my time during Covid, before I even watched the video. If it doesn't play, I shan't return it. I'll consider it a lesson learned!

I am a bit disappointed. Yes, the amazing cast. Johnny Depp, Judi Dench, Michelle Pfeiffer, Olivia Colman… But definitely isn’t a masterpiece. This remake is completely unnecessary. Also in my opinion, David Suchet as the Poirot was the best.

I was not expecting to enjoy this film as much as I did after reading a number of bad reviews, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Itbhas been done before, but the special effects and atmosphere was really good, as we're the characters. A good film
