The highlights are when Zeppelin incorporate influences and stretch out into new stylistic territory, most notably on the tense, Eastern-influenced "Kashmir.". The second half of Physical Graffiti feels like the group is cleaning the vaults out, issuing every little scrap of music they set to tape in the past few years.

The best way to own Led Zeppelin: be ye a newbie or Led Head
With the almost unending volume of Led Zeppelin albums, CDs and bootleg music on the market today, the Super Deluxe Box Sets are the best. I remember picking up the very first LP when it came out here in the U.S. in 1968. It was the beginning of a long journey which included seeing two concerts in 1975 and 77. Along the way, I ended up with most all the albums, DVDs and CDs. When the box sets came along, I was hesitant to buy them because they were remastered. After listening to a couple, I realized that Jimmy Page had not altered the original content, but rather enhanced those sounds that should have been prominent in the original pressings so that the end result was actually better, but not new. With the addition of the bonus material and the book which come with each set, this becomes a fantastic way to listen to and learn about each album. Physical Graffiti was a turning point double LP that had a mixture of signature Led Zeppelin material as well as some edgy songs that showed a metamorphosis of what would be the future (Presence, ITTOD, Coda) of the group. Yes, price is a factor, but if you are just finding Zep for the first time, it is worth it. If you are a die hard fan, you know it is something you will cherish.
