Despite its performance, the Folgore suffered from production delays and limited numbers. The Macchi C.202 Folgore was a highly regarded Italian fighter aircraft of World War II. Developed by Aeronautica Macchi and designed by Mario Castoldi, the C.202 first flew in August 1940 and entered service in 1941.
