  • Frank and George ; A Classic Combination

A thoroughly enjoyable set of short stories, bringing together the talents of former Scotland Yard Superintendent Frank Froest and journalist/author George Dilnot. The two are at pains to differentiate their work from the popular detective fiction of the day, which is a surprise given that George Dilnot wrote a number of the Sexton Blake stories ! There are no super-sleuths here, they stress teamwork, good organisation and the determination of otherwise ordinary men to see each case through to the end. Having said that, there is very little realism here, these stories are essentially entertainment. Only one of the stories is a whodunnit, so this collection won`t be to everyone`s taste, but I enjoyed it immensely and I`ve already bought two more of their books !
