About this product

Product Information

'Deliriously clever' GUARDIAN ----- Now a major BBC drama: The Strike series When a mysterious package is delivered to Robin Ellacott, she is horrified to discover that it contains a woman's severed leg. Her boss, private detective Cormoran Strike, is less surprised but no less alarmed. There are four people from his past who he thinks could be responsible - and Strike knows that any one of them is capable of sustained and unspeakable brutality. With the police focusing on the one suspect Strike is increasingly sure is not the perpetrator, he and Robin take matters into their own hands, and delve into the dark and twisted worlds of the other three men. But as more horrendous acts occur, time is running out for the two of them... A fiendishly clever mystery with unexpected twists around every corner, CAREER OF EVIL is also a gripping story of a man and a woman at a crossroads in their personal and professional lives. You will not be able to put this book down. ----- PRAISE FOR THE STRIKE SERIES: 'One of the most unique and compelling detectives I've come across in years' MARK BILLINGHAM 'The work of a master storyteller' DAILY TELEGRAPH 'Unputdownable. . . Irresistible' SUNDAY TIMES 'Will keep you up all night' OBSERVER 'A thoroughly enjoyable classic' PETER JAMES, SUNDAY EXPRESS

I am having great difficulty in putting ...

I am having great difficulty in putting this book down, I am well on my way with this series, and am pleased that I was able to get all books, in the series, all in very good condition. My problem having to do housework and keeping the family instead of just sitting and reading, but I am known for sitting and reading, so sorry must stop now and go and pick up the book to read some more.

  • Most critical review

    Huge disappointment

I loved the first two books in this series, but in this one she has got the structure all wrong. The suspects being three completely unrelated men means there are no relationships to keep the plot moving and the endless hours of dull surveillance make washing the dishes a more interesting prospect than catching up with Strike and Robin. Endless dragging fill. I don't think I'll bother with books four and five.

  • So good I'll be reading it again

This was the first Strike novel I read, the first book I've read in decades I genuinely could not put down after reading the first five pages, and the reason I decided I needed to find and buy all the books (used, I'm not minted:) to go back to the beginning. I won't spoil the plot of this book (number three in the series) but I will say again this book was impossible to put down.

  • Unputdownable

Great story with believable likeable characters. Big book, which is good because you want to keep reading about Cormoron and Robin but you can't wait to get to the end. Do not read this book in bed, you wont get any sleep.

  • Brilliant and extremely enjoyable.

I have an issue with the language but not with the storyline or the characters. They are compelling and fascinating. This applies to all four of the set.

  • Another compelling read

As you would expect from Robert Galbraith (J K Rowling) this is extremely well written. However, it is quite a dark book

  • Another Brilliant Cormoran Strike Story

Absolutely Brilliant, like all Strike Novels. Full of detail, 'real' Characters & NO Stereotypes! A thoroughly good, rivetting & enjoyable read.
