Wainwright's Pictorial Guides put you in the picture.
Over the years one may hear the name Wainwright spoken with reverence but not fully realise why he is so revered. Once you have opened one of his pictorial guides you immediately understand why. It is only a year ago that I started walking on the hills of North Yorkshire and Durham and this year I am planning several walks in the Lake District hence my purchase of these books. The information in these books is clear, detailed and informative. While written fifty years ago and therefore to some extent out of date they are nonetheless an invaluable aid for planning a walk. When I compare the wealth of information which can be gleaned from the pages of these books with that found on walking websites the books are far superior. These books are a pleasure and a delight to read in themselves and anyone purchasing them will surely be as pleased with them as I am.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I have contemplated buying these books for a number of years but now I wish I had bought them sooner! They are fantastic, little hand drawn pictures and little anecdotes from Wainwright, some of which are so funny!
