Design TTS sound specifically for steam engines.
Works well, good sound quality. Instructions are limited. Should be plug and go! A basic instruction sheet should be provided with for that specific model. There was no way it would fit in the model, the speaker should have been a sugar cube one or equivalent so it will all fit neatly, simply into the fire box. It should be manufactured like this in the first place as opposed to taking a diesel design, change the sound accordingly and hope it will fit. Naughty of Hornby and below the standard I expect of them. Don’t sell a product until it is ready. I did my own adaption and it does work well. You will be better off buying a TTS fitted version in the first place when you factor into its costs!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

'Not really plug and play'
Good:- quality of sound and number of functions. Value for money Bad:- If you have the earlier versions of tornado (like the one in the Tornado train set)the DCC socket is in the loco rather than the tender which means the supplied speaker will not fit(I changed mine for a sugar cube one which is fitted in the smokebox with the decoder) Poor syncronisation between the 'chuffs' and the wheel revolutions Recommended for later versions of tornado unless you are a more experienced modeller and the synchro issue is not important to you.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Sound but not connected
As these items are retro fit & many of the DCC ready locos / tenders can accept these units, the problem is that the DCC plug is in the loco and the speaker mount is in the tender. So the wires for the speaker are not long enough, they need to be unsoldered and additional length let in . But whoa - you still need a connecter so you can actually feed the wires through the loco and into the tender. SO why not add a bit more wire & a connector & charge a couple of pounds more? Otherwise this is good value for money and gives another dimension to railway modelling.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Typical Hornby
The seller probably does not know but the speaker could not be fitted into a Hornby A1 class train, as it was far too big. This left 2 options, extend the wiring and fit the speaker in the tender or buy a smaller speaker, which I did.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
