About this product

Product Information

Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist have not been in touch for some time. Then Blomkvist is contacted by renowned Swedish scientist Professor Balder. Warned that his life is in danger, but more concerned for his son's well-being, Balder wants Millennium to publish his story - and it is a terrifying one. More interesting to Blomkvist than Balder's world-leading advances in Artificial Intelligence, is his connection with a certain female superhacker. It seems that Salander, like Balder, is a target of ruthless cyber gangsters - and a violent criminal conspiracy that will very soon bring terror to the snowbound streets of Stockholm, to the Millennium team, and to Blomkvist and Salander themselves.

The title meaning becomes clear in the book.

I found this book enjoyable reading, however it was not as "deep" as Larsson's original books. I found it easy to guess some of the plot and the focus was more on Mickael rather than Lisbeth. This book was very fast paced and tried to overload on information rather than the slower, more intricate detailed books that made up the millenium trilogy. Overall, it was a very good effort given that Larsson is a tough act to follow.

  • Most critical review

Careful if you liked the original authors style .

Bought as a Christmas surprise for my wife who had enjoyed the original three. She was sceptical but kept an open mind . Occasionally she lost herself in the book , but came down to earth with a bump when stylistic discrepancies spoilt the illusion . Some people might not mind , but it'd not a done deal .

  • The story continues

Stieg Larsson wrote the Millenium Series of 3 books starting with "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and featuring Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander, all of which were excellent, and all of which were made into Swedish Films. Larsson died some time ago but David Lagercrantz has taken on the mantle of continuing the story of these two, and you could well believe that it was in fact written by Larsson. I really hope that they will make this into a film too. Although this is a self-contained story, there are several references to the earlier books in the series, so if you are contemplating reading them, I would suggest that you start with "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and read them all in the correct order.

  • Still wondering WTF all the fuss was about

Not sure even now what the author was trying to do with this. For me at least it meanders far too much and doesn't hold the reader's attention. Plots are clumsily worked through and character development is almost non-existent. Maybe I've read too many American novels

  • continues where the hornets nest left off.

very well adapted continuation of Larsson's trilogy. Couldn't tell the difference between authors. Great story

  • Just as compelling as original trilogy

Lagercranz has done the Millenium Trilogy credit - a seamless run on and a great read! Next please!

  • Not as expected.

The condition of the book was lower than expected. As for the contents. No one will ever be able to come anywhere near Larsson. It’s not a very big book and nothing happens until about halfway and then not a lot happens and then it’s all over very quickly. So overall VERY DISAPPOINTED. Lagercranzt had better buck up or give up. But let’s give him another chance. Will I recommend this ? Short answer NO.
