Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London's West End on 30th July 2016. It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

Easy read broomstick fantasy fiction.
Although not actually written by Rowling herself with the niche details that you associate with her writing, it is still a recommended read for those fascinated with this creation and world of wizarding. The structure is at times jarring as things are not laid out how they would be in a novel, but it is very much easier to read being in screenplay format. It has stage directions etc which can take you out of the fantasy at times but it is a small gripe. So far into it the story is interesting enough and as I say easy to read and the pages fly by. It's strongest asset is it's plot, the weakest point is it's sentence structure, at times falling a little flat. Descriptions are generally a fleeting aspect so don't expect the writer to fuel your imagination in that way. Most of the details are left to the reader. I am not a regular reader and I would recommend it to those fans particularly who find reading a bit of a chore ( we do exhist ) and good for winter bedtimes with the bedding pulled tight and a flask of butterbeer. Lol.

What happened to content ?
I know I shouldn't be disappointed, I knew it was a script, but even with my mad imagination it was sparse in detail with which I could grab hold of to set the scenes. The characters were so incredibly earnest at times it was painful. I enjoyed Scorpious and Ron most but Harry was so 1 dimensional I felt sad for the actors. Stick to the originals if you want to feel satisfied and enjoy well rounded characters and dialogue which fits so incredibly well. I have great admiration for J.K. Rowling but I do feel there is very little of her brilliance on display here.

Interesting storyline, but in a confusing (to me) format
The story carries on from the last book ( and film ) The storyline is holding my attention or I would not have continued to read it as I speed read normally and can’t with this rehearsal script format.

Right my book is a good book because I will have completed all the Harry Potter series. Not just that I hope it’s not in hard-back because all my other Harry Potter books are paper-back. I was surprised to find that the script was so easy to get into. I had expected the stage directions would interfere with the flow of the storyline, I was mistaken! Once again JK Rowling has created a great continuation to Harry Potter's life of troubles,

Better than expected.
Wasn't sure if I would enjoy reading any book as a play script but it was easier than I thought and as pages have little content on them compared to a proper book it makes for very fast reading. Really enjoyed catching up with their lives after Hogwarts.

Only worth a read by avid fans
It continues the story, but only really worth a read for big fans of the series. I could of quiet happily never of read this, as it isn't written by J K Rowling, although she helped with it, this shows, the style just isn't the same.
