Heartbreaking
As a friend of Kevin Lueshing, I was intrigued to hear his story. I was also a victim of appalling physical and mental torture by my mother. She facilitated sexual abuse by her friends which started when I was just 5 years of age. So many dreadful memories flooded back. The book has had me in tears many times. I put it down and think I can't read this any more, but I cannot ignore it for long. Despite the horror, I know there must be a brighter future. When I have the courage, I will start reading again. It's hard to believe this incredible experience and how close it is to my own upbringing. I have tried to hide my own experience but this story has laid it bare. I must read it. I feel a compulsion to read it and hope it helps to soothe my own wounds. Kevin is a good man but I was not aware of his juvenile experiences. It's a tough read but vital.
