Good solid hifi, great clear sound
This hifi has a 10 second warm up when switched on as it has valves! This is a brilliant feature, it slowly comes to life with a warm glow that increases to a lovely orange light giving a darkened room lovely ambiance. The sound is very clear, good treble, bass very slightly lacking for my taste but I like the low down base from a sub woofer, which this system doesn’t have so I can’t expect it to be able to handle those notes anyway. Terrific value and quality playback.
I am not an audio expert, but I know what I like. In days of old, amplifiers were built using amplifier tubes or valves - I was used to their idiosyncrasies, with warming up periods before the sound would "mellow" into a better (in my mind) reproduction of the source - LPs, CDs or audio tapes! That technology never disappeared, but was edged out into a more minor role by digital technology - i.e., digital amplifiers. I have recently purchased some artists on CD for my car and realised I have no equipment in my home for playing CDs (other than games consoles or CD-rom players on PC or laptop - not specific for quality audio playback) - so (long story long) I began a hunt for a medium quality CD player and happened across this little beauty. Easily installed, I switched on and after 10-15 minutes of warm up (my choice!!) I listened to some early Genesis and E.L.O stuff - it was delightful, maybe result of rose-coloured glasses, but I am genuinely happy with it! So, well pleased with purchase AND the service provision of Curry's (PC World) for excellent delivery and delivery updates. Anyhow - back to my CD player.....Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Fantastic and easy to set up.

Pleased with it
