Lightweight with good features however no Touchscreen and GPS

Have just received this camera and really like the feel of it, its lack of weight is useful as it will be predominantly for travel shots, it also has a very useful addition to the earlier TZ series cameras an EVF (Electronic View Finder). All good so far, however, I am a little surprised in taking test shots with my old (2013 model) TZ40 in that image quality hasn't noticeably increased (images on TZ40 were good anyway) however the zoom is supposed to have the edge on the old (30X v 20X) that doesn't appear to show in the shots.... The fact that the new camera doesn't have GPS ( useful when you're loading your shots onto albums) or touch screen when focussing and looking back on shots it does feel that Panasonic are leaving customers a little short changed, this is despite Canon, Sony and Nikon getting much closer (or possibly surpassed) their team leader credentials. Come on Panasonic you need to put all the extras back on board in your next upgrade (I note latest TZ80 doesn't have GPS either) you cannot rest on your laurels any longer, this is a very competitive sector, don't get me wrong this is a good camera but Panasonic used to make great travel cameras, they need to get back on the podium.

    Could be good but flawed

Seemed great at first; lightweight, well built, good to hold, great viewfinder, many features, BUT.....can't transfer photos to my PC with Windows !0. It has WiFi and cable connection but is incompatible with Windows !0. Even putting the card in a cardholder it would only transfer degraded photos to a documents file. I find many adverts for this camera on-line but none of them mention this incompatibility, inc. Amazon, John Lewis and EBAY. For me, totally useless.

  • great camera @ a good price

I bought this camera just before the xmas period & have had chance to use it on a few occasions & the results have been superb. The zoom is really good even when you move it into the digital zoom zone, the pictures are sharp & clear. The colour of pictures is real to the original colours . The focusing is spot on every time . I have not found any features of the camera that I do not like , being small it is easy to carry , which is important to me as I am in my 70's & can no longer haul heavy SLR cameras with additional lenses on field trips. One example of the quality of the zoom lens is , I saw a squirrel right up the top of a tall mature ash tree in our local park so I zoomed in on it with the maximum zoom & got a perfect sharp & detailed picture of the creature. So my view of this camera is that it is very good for the price. Perhaps one small gripe is that there is no comprehensive guide book with it, just a basic one & then you have a CD to download with a vast number of pages to trawl through.

  • Panasonic DMC-TZ70EB-K LUMIX Digital Camera

Good image quality. Love the viewfinder. Taking holiday pictures using the viewfinder in bright sunshine will be a breeze. Most of the modes are intuitive but the WiFi system is difficult to get working as both Camera and computer struggle to connect when needed. Much quicker to take the SD card out as usual. On the upper size limit for a compact camera. But glad I bought it to replace my still very good Panasonic TZ27. Would I but it again? YES but please sort out the tricky WiFi and please add a satellite position.

  • A great camera for getting extra close up to birds.

A decent camera, all is functioning as expected, except the wi-fi can't be connected for some bizarre reason. The 30x zoom is especially useful for getting faraway pics of birds. A camera that would have cost £350 if bought 5 years ago now only costs £80. Most of these TZ70s are being sold second hand for a similar price now.

  • Excellent quality, not expensive

Includes viewefinder that you can use it in the case of strong sunlight, when you can not use display. Optical zoom 30X is a big advantage. The camera dimensions allow you to put it in the pocket. Really, a great camera.

The camera is fine though the build quality is a little flimsy. Unfortunately, I should have noticed the the supplier's statement that it might be supplied with a European plug on the charger - it was, in all fairness, clear. However, it does beg the question why the supplier should think it makes any sense to do this on an item for sale in the UK. As a result, I have had further trouble and expense to obtain a suitable charger.

  • Disappointed with results

Usually I take my canon 5D but travelling by motorcycle its always a chore so thought 'd get a smaller camera. Just returned from a trip and disapoijnted with the results. Maybe I was on a wrong setting there are just so many I should have maybe used manual settings .

  • Best by far?

Great little compact. It punches well above its weight and price. A better lens than the sony equivalent and resolution on macro is spectacular. 30x optical zoom is more than enough.
