Two computers running on these dreams.
I love this processor. The first one I bought has lasted me well over 4 years and I have never had an issue with heat or processing speed. At 4.2 ghz, the processor packs a punch and is a pleasure to work with in installation. Currently I have upgraded my brothers gaming pc into a new future proofed rig so that he will be safe for a fair few years. I consider it a fantastic product for the price and would add that It's retained it's value on the market since initial release. In conclusion, If I ever build another gaming pc, this is the processor I would use for efficiency and heat control.

Intel i7 4790K CPU
This Cpu is the fastest of the Haswell line It has worked perfectly straight from the box there was a small Intel sticker in the box which you can stick to your case if you choose.The stock intel cooler was more than able to keep the cpu cool under load.The heat material was pre applied to the heatsink making for easy installation.The snap in legs also make installation simple but take care when inserting the heatsink pins through the motherboard as i have had the odd one bend in the past

Pretty decent CPU, that does not so it's age so much
Although it is quite an old processor it's still performs quite well in gaming, if combine it with a proper air cooler (high watt & nm make it run a bit hot) and of course a decent GPU. For everyday use it's more than enough. As a workstation a more modern multicore/ thread CPU would be a better option. If you want a bolt on upgrade for your 4th gen i5 you can't go wrong.

The Official De-lidded 4770K
To some of you the title of this review might appear a bit cryptic. The fact of the matter is that after all the decades of producing CPU's Intel makes n00bie mistakes with regard to them is not believable. This leaves one and only one conclusion, Intel deliberately crippled the precursor to the 4790K namely the 4770K. If one takes the lid off the 4770K, gets rid of all the gunk that Intel smeared on it, replaces the Thermal Interface Material with a good one, and then replaces the lid so that it is actually in proximity to the CPU then you get a processor which is indistinguishable to the 4790K in EVERY RESPECT. I know this, because I do have a 4770K which I have delidded and benchmarked and compared my modified 4770K with the benchmarks for the 4790K and they are nigh on identical. I bought this CPU because I replaced my motherboard about a year ago with one which is far superior and my friend now wants me to build a computer for him and he is getting my old motherboard and the 4770K for the price I paid for the 4790K. The 4790K really doesn't deserve the privilege of a new CPU designation, it is, as I stated, just a 4770K with the artificial performance degradation built in by Intel removed. I give it five stars because I would give the 4770K five stars as well (after curing it of the crippling induced by the manufacturer).

Intel i7-4790K - worth the money if your motherboad supports it.
The Intel i7-4790K is the fastest processor that can be installed onto an LAG 1150 motherboard, it requires a decent heatsink & fan to keep it cool. It's performance has been rock solid since installation and it can be overclocked if you wish to, although I'm happy running it at stock speed.

Amazing how fast and cool this five year old CPU is! It will hang with the newest generation CPUs if you're not into the latest bleeding edge. Rock solid temps as well on a simple non-serviced water cooler.

Brilliant!
This came really early and is a great bang for buck CPU its very powerful and has no problem with anything. Ive also got a gtx 1060 6gb and 16gb ddr3 RAM this this set up can run fortnite and other AAA titles on full settings automatically at a steady 80+FPS but it only give out 60FPS as i only have a 60hz monitor. Over all this was a great price for a i7 and it is performing brilliantly! Just make sure you buy a good CPU cooler as the i7 gets quite hot but thats normal... im using the coller master 212 evo or 121 evo or something like that i can't remember. But that works fine! This is a great option to buy!

Still a beast late 2020
Effective for gaming, the best DDR3 compatible CPU available. May have to flash your bios for the motherboard to recognise so keep an older working CPU to hand until you’ve successfully posted with the new CPU. Great performance in games with multi threading a real bonus compared to similar age Intel i5 4 core processors.
