With only 80 pages to go, I have loved learning about the lives of all the people in this book, in particular, the narrator, Margaret. The castles, the journeys, the politics, the battles (both physical and emotional) are all brilliantly described and explained. It has clearly been incredibly well researched and I shall be sorry to finish it.

I've been a Phillipa fan for many years. I am sorry to say that this latest book is very lack lustre. Formulaic story lines that are now all to familiar to anyone that has read any of her other tudor books or indeed the plantagenet series. Characterisation and story pace in this one is lacking in my view and the ending is poor. I am not sure what she is trying to achieve but i found this to be well below her usual par. I am left wondering which tudor lady she will land on next. Maybe a book solely about Mary?? Well whatever comes next I'm not sure I'd buy it if this one is anything to go by. Sorry Phillipa...

Excellent book in Philippa Gregory’s usual style - another point of view of historical events- this time from Mary, queen of Scotland.

Haven’t read it yet but looking forward. As with all Philippa Gregory books once started you can’t put them down.

Philippa Gregory writes beautifully with rich characters you feel compelled to learn more about. She brings history alive with her accounts of the twists and turns of the monarchy.
