Quickly read and soon forgotten
A rock icon such as Pete Way surely deserves more than 250-odd large print pages and this effort has the feel of a bit of a recent rush job given Mr Ways' recent ill health. Factually it isn't entirely accurate, (for the record Pete lived in Rathbone Road, Smethwick NOT Rathbone Place, Harborne Mr Rees, indeed no such place exists in Harborne) and the impression of the book is of a general overview which focuses to a large extent on Pete's developing drug habit. Relatively little time is given to his later band Waysted (maybe as a result of his spat with singer Fin Muir a couple of years ago) and consequently the musical aspect is lost after their early 80's heyday despite a number of albums and tours being undertaken thereafter. Indeed given that the book emphasises the the drug aspect, Pete's 'fast ride out' could accelerate and unfortunately, this read wouldn't make much of an epitaph.
