I don't ride off road enough to know the crash-worthiness (in an off road sense) of this Acerbis bash plate, but: - This is the cheapest one out there. - It looks great. - I have not noticed any engine reverberations. - Pretty light. - I did get road rash on it and simply took my pocket knife and shaved the ground-up-plastic that had curled up on the right edge, off. Looks perfectly great, almost unnoticeable. Think you'd have the same result with an aluminum one? Nope! All these factors make this one my choice, and I have no interest in spending more for an aluminum one. The only problem I had with this one is that the rear mounting bolts are so short they only have about two threads of engagement. So, I bought longer bolts. This is a bummer, as the two-threads-thing is clearly Acerbis cheaping out. Yes, the stock ones are 20mm long, and if you go up to 25mm they will bottom on the frame, hence the need for some grinding of the longer bolts or extra washers. But, IMO the stock rear bolt length is inadequate.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

"Well Designed Skidplate - Incorrect screws/washers included"
The skid plate is thick and appears to be strong enough to protect the underside of the engine and frame cradle from rocks/logs. I read many online reviews that were very positive so I decided to purchase this skidplate. The only issues I encountered during installation were related to the screws/washers that were supplied (four M8 24mm dia washers, two M8-1.25x20mm, and two M8-1.25 x30mm button head screws). The 24mm washers were too large to fit into the recessed holes for the rear attachment screws. I had to buy standard dia M8 washers that did fit into the recesses. The M8-1.25x30mm screws are too long to be used in either the front or rear mounting locations. I had to buy two M8-1.25x20mm button head screws to complete the installation. With the correct sized screws/washers the skidplate is held very securely to the frame. None of the online reviews I saw for this skidplate included photos showing how wide it is and how well it protects the engine from frontal rock impacts. I included a photo to show this attribute. Better than expected.
I wanted to add a skid plate to my new DR650 but really don’t like the looks of a bulky raw aluminum plate. I saw this Acerbis model and liked the look of it but was concerned about it being plastic (I was thinking of their hand guards and fenders). I decided to order one and was pleasantly surprised- this skid plate is beefy and looks great installed on the bike. The fit and design makes it look like it came on the bike from the factory (which it should) unlike the aluminum jobs that look homemade. Inexpensive skid plate for Suzuki DR 650 2013 model
As everyone has already said you need to buy longer bolts. Two of the bolts fit and the other ones are a little too short. Other than that it appears to be very good quality, and is quiet while you ride. Great plate, wrong hardware inside
Strong and thick black plastic, fits perfect, has oil drain hole for easy access with a socket. Comes with 2 8x20mm and 2 8x30mm allen head bolts with 4 flat washers. You will need all four to be 8x30mm, also would recommend lock washers or blue thread lock to prevent loss.

Screws too short
Great product! But the rear frame mounting screws 8mm x 20mm should be at least 25mm long in order to grab more than a couple of threads. The supplied fender(oversized) washers also do not fit into the recessed mounting area. Buy your own washers or mount it directly to the plastic. Robust and quiet
Unlike most bash plates, the Acerbis plate is made of a very think and solid sort of plastic. This does not reflect engine sound. I can't see how any otehr bash plate would offer more protection unless all you ride is rocks and boulders. And even then the Acerbis bash plate is very solid. Recommended! Slightly scratched but tough
Quick shipping and it is a great skid plate. Took a while to install because the front bolts go into 2 levers that are hard to reach, but just keep at it and you can get them to thread. My new skid plate came with scratches on it as if it was dropped on asphalt so I was a little disappointed, but the skid plate itself is very tough and seems durable.

Great plate, weak bolts
Great skid plate. I’ve smacked rocks hard and no signs of cracking. The allen bolts are a little weak but maybe thats all stainless bolts. I stripped one out but thats probably because I didn’t clean the threads up on the bike and the bolt got tight before it seated. Other than that I can’t complain.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
