This game is definitely a step in the right direction for Capcom, after going thru some sort of identity-crisis with 5 and 6. This game is one of the best definitions of survival horror. Ammo is scarce in this game, so make sure to conserve it whenever possible. The atmosphere is the crowing achievement for this game. Walking thru the hallways of the house, you hear stuff all around you; footsteps above you, banging on doors and walls, distant screams, etc. This game can really mess with your head at times, which makes you even more tense while playing, That and combined with the first person perspective they've used for this game, it makes you feel like it's actually you that's in this house, trying to escape. I recommend playing the game with headphones that support surround sound, as you'll be able to hear a lot more subtle things in the game you wouldn't be able to hear thru normal speakers, unless you have a home theater system. This is probably of the scariest games I've ever played, so if you're a horror game junkie who's been wanting a decent survival horror game, look no further! I highly recommend this! Read full review

I am not a resident evil "Fanboy" but i like to play Action/Adventure/Survival Horror type games. This is an average game at best... The protagonist you play as comes across as an emotionless robot, even losing a hand doesn't bring a convincing reaction. And the games is severely lacking in creature variety... There are like 3 creatures and some bugs... Seriously capcom? The few puzzles the game has are hilariously simple... And the "Horror" aspect is very poorly executed. Sure you get the occasional startle, but its nothing like deadspace or doom. There isn't that constant suspense that creates that deep emersion. It is VERY tame for an M rating in this category. And the story... It just doesn't make you feel invested in the outcome like it should. You learn basically NOTHING about your character and you don't have enough real choices to build the story. And the ending's are Very generic, probably because there are bery few things you can do to affect the outcome. There was one decent twist at the end, but anyone that reads all the paper's lying around and looks at the random photos littering the areas, knows its coming before a third of the way through it. Honestly, i would have rather saved the money and watched a YouTube play through...Read full review

Feels like the traditional Resident Evil, but in the first person view. Has the option for VR. Is still very very scary. Doesn't have enough of the traditional gun varieties, tho. Yet, doesn't take away from the fun. Replay value could be slightly better, like the traditional RE, needs more easter eggs, upgrade parts for equipment and rare finds. Side quests are still excellent tho! I look forward to the next release. Thanks!

A lot of things look a lot better in the pictures, which are also on the box. Things like the house and the USB stick. While there is absolutely no fault with the detail (it actually looks perfect), the only thing which gave me quite some buyer's remorse were the colors. The house is slightly darker and not as uniformly gray as it looks like on the pictures on the box. The actual house has more contrast in its colors. (I feel like the gray gives it a more "dead"-look, while the colors make it more lively.) The sound is also pretty bad, but that is actually not really surprising. Much better (to hear and see) from some distance! The USB stick looks just plain bad and kind of very phallic. I love the box and like the cassette case I got, though. It is a nice thing to have, I suppose. It is not worth more than 200 dollars. When it arrived, I also had to pay 70 for the customs.Read full review

Great game! Just really well done! The game is very compelling and draws you in to the story. One of the best games I've played, actually. I can't say anything bad about this game. However, I think it's actually too scary for young children and would not want anyone under 16 or so playing it.

I've been putting a hold on this game for awhile, but finally gotten around to play the game. I got to say, this is a very different approach on Resident Evil series, but I enjoy it thoroughly. It's a jump type scare, but I really like it. Now I want to try it in VR! If you are a hugh Resident Evil fan, like myself, I definitely highly recommend to try it if you haven't so yet.

Easily one of the best Resident Evil games ever made and one of the best games I've played over the last several years. I had a hard time turning the game off. After finishing my first play through i started again to see the second ending. I highly recommend this game to any RE fans or survival-horror fans.

This is my first time playing any Resident Evil game and from what I've read it is a reboot to the series. I love it. It's scary and I don't scare easy but after a while it fun when you see what's really going on. I recommend getting the game.

Growing up playing RE4 as one of my favorite games ever made me a bit resistant to buy newer versions, but this one is great. Kinda wish there was more variety in the doodoo monsters, but I’d recommend this game to every RE fan!

Its a decent balance between horror and story. The game has so many scenes where you're expecting a jump scare and they just dont do it so youre terrified and that's quite amazing in itself. Not as scary as outlast imo but definitely worth the money.
