  • Even better than expected

Plain and simple, I'm pretty much a Samsung guy. I've only used high-end devices from the big names over the years and pretty much have always gone back to Samsung. I had never heard of this phone a month ago. I follow the tech blogs daily but apparently skimmed right over any article mentioning this phone because I wasn't interested in anything from ZTE. Come to find out, this phone actually launched in 2016 and all of the major Tech reporting sites had overwhelming write-ups about it. I wasn't really needing a new phone other than I was approaching filling up the storage on my Samsung and many of the apps couldn't be moved over to the SD card to free up room. I figured I would hold out for the new Galaxy Note 8. I started seeing more articles and videos about this phone though and the price blew me away for it to have Flagship specs at a mid-range price. I'm also a audio file and every single review I read praised the audio from this phone. A friend of mine who isn't a technology Nerd Like Me had mentioned he needed to start looking at new phones and I told him about this one. He was impressed with what I had to say about it and asked what I thought about him buying one sight unseen. I caved and said let me go ahead and buy one and then you can see for yourself. Hey, if I don't like it I can sell it and there appear to be quite a few people interested in buying them. What a great decision it was to purchase this phone. There are enough hidden and not so hidden tricks you can do with this phone that can help you out on a day-to-day basis that you would never miss all of the tricks of a Samsung phone. If you are looking for Simplicity though, just use the phone exactly the way it is and you still can't go wrong. Very fast, good size to hold in the hand for a phablet, audio is through the roof awesome, camera has been fine-tuned with fast updates from ZTE so many of the negatives you might read in articles from 2016 have been taken care of. ZTE has really stepped up to the plate with support for this phone. The AMOLED display might make you think you were looking at a Samsung Galaxy product which are ranked as having the best screens of any phone. The fingerprint scanner is exceptionally fast and speaking of fast, I have yet to find a game or other memory draining task that's slows this phone down. I could go on and on about some of the little things that make it a really great device. Bottom line is though, you are getting incredible amount of bang for your buck. You will definitely need a case because the unibody aluminum is indeed slippery but oh so beautiful in design. The volume and power buttons are placed very nicely. If you unlock the developer options, you will actually see a simple toggle to unlock the bootloader for those who might be interested and know what that means. Definitely do yourself a favor and watch videos about tricks and tips and you will discover a lot of time savers and cool features that aren't automatically pointed out. Also a sign from the regular unlock methods of passwords or pins or fingerprints, you can use your voice to unlock the phone as well as your face which both work well. If ZTE keeps making great phones like this, don't be surprised to find them a household name in the near future competing with the big name players. This is pretty much a Acura with a Honda price tag. Well worth the money in my opinion.

  • Prince of the budget phones!

I am a long time Samsung user.. I've used the s3, note 2, note 3 and note 4 as week as played around with others s7 and this is the fastest phone I've ever used. It's incredibly fast. The thing that stands out the most are the speakers and the hi-fi chip. I hooked it up to my car via auxiliary. I listen to a lot of EDM, the bass was WAAAAY more rich than any other device I've owned. This phone is an excellent buy! UPDATE: 5 weeks after purchase. So I am still in love with this phone. There ar very few phones that Ifeel like I am going to have to keep simply because of the quality. I have two phones, the axon 7 and the nexus 6p. My axon gets btter battery life than my 6p with the same apps and same usage throughout the day. Not only that, the speakers on the axon are noticeably better than that on the nexus 6p. The axon's speakers are loud, crisp, and have a surprising amount of rich bass for speakers twice the size. The phone is still very fast, I have rooted the phone, unlocked the bootloader, and put TWRP recovery, and xposed on it and have not run into a large number of incompatibility issues. Hi-Fi, Hi-Fi, Hi-Fi.. Can not get over how much better music sounds. What's interesting to me, in my opinion, music coming through auxilary sounds better with Dolby OFF. While music coming out of the speakers sounds much better with Dolby ON. What's interesting is I hate earpods, I strongly prefer around ear headphones, but man.. The earphoens included wiith this phone are SOLID. I really enjoy listening to them, I am thinking about taking a peek around ZTE's website to see if they have any supplemental headphones for sale or make a request if they do not. When people ask me to watch a video, I insist on using my own phone to watch/listen to the video because of the amazing screen quality. (Quad-Hd amoled is toooo legit) Software Updates: The US version is on b27 now, (We've seen 2 major software updates since release which is AWESOME.) B27 Is excellent, if I could describe the update, it was like the previous update had tons of cool features (double tap to wake, shake to activate flashlight on the lock screen, and a few other cool features that I fail to be able to recall at the moment. However, in the previous update it seemed like they were half baked in, you could onlly shake to turn the flashlight on, but could not shake to turn it off, double tap to wake was slow to wake up the device, etc. With b27, those things have been optimized, now you can shake to turn the flashlight on and off, double tap to wake is much faster, and a few other things have been optimized within the phone system as well. Plus we got september's android security update, which is nice to have! And! With b27 cell phone signal got WAY better. I much more frequently have close to or full bars (100 dBm or more). I get the same signal as my t-mobile note 4 did, and my nexus 6p currently does. So definitely a win in that regard. So far ZTE seems to be doing a pretty good with this phone. I seriously hope that we will receive Android N, 7.1 pretty soon. It's the end of October now, So I am hoping before February it will be released for the Axon.

  • An awesome phone for a great price!

Let's start off with just this, this is a damn good phone. The ZTE Axon 7 is probably one of the best phones I've ever had. The screen on this phone is sharp and oversaturated (which is a good thing). You'll enjoy watching videos on this phone. The audio experience on this phone is also superb. I really listen to music on my phones, I spend probably around 3-4 hours a day listening to my music library, Spotify and podcasts on my phone, all of which sounds great on both speakers and headphones. This phone is a legit choice for any audiophile like me. The connection on this phone is great too, at least in my experience. I usually always get 4G LTE in the Nashville Metro area. Signal is strong and Wi-Fi is stellar on the phone, I have AT&T and both my cell signal and home Wi-Fi are quick, I watch videos on 1080p 60fps and it never even stutters. When it comes to accessories it may be a different CASE (lol, see what I did there). Since this isn't the worlds most famous phone, there aren't too many cases, but you shouldn't have an issue getting a decent case here on eBay, good luck finding a case in Walmart or Target though. The ZTE Axon 7 supports quick charge 3.0, it charges really quickly, more or less half a full charge in 30 minutes. Google Day Dream... Its works pretty well, I wouldn't recommend you do VR on it too long as the phone gets hotter than a boiled egg on a summers day in San Juan in Puerto Rico after long uses. The camera... Its pretty good, not half bad. Would I use it to film movies? No. Would I compare it to the Pixel? No. Does it do the job adequately? Definitely, yes! In good lighting it takes some really nice photos, but in the dark you might as well not even bother if you want good pics. I'm not really nocturnal, most people aren't, in most cases this phone will be just fine as the camera goes. Software updates have improved the camera experience, so that's something. Gaming, apps and multitasking should fly by in a cinch. The Axon 7 is very capable of handling bigger apps and tasks without glitching or stuttering. All in all, this phone is worth the $400 and then some. Its an awesome phone with a great audio/video experience, decent camera, great gaming experience, and good connection. This 100% should be your daily driver if you're looking for a phone like the ZTE Axon 7.

  • Nearly all the performance of a flagship, half of the price.

To be a true flagship device a phone must perform well in 6 different categories. Screen, Sound, Speed, Storage, Camera, and Build Quality. If a device can score well in all of those 6 categories you will have a serious piece of equipment. Screen: This device has a Samsung AMOLED 2560x1440p screen. It has dark blacks, and rich colors. In direct sunlight it may wash out a bit, otherwise there is nothing more to really say. This is a fantastic screen. 9/10 Sound: ZTE really hit it out of the ballpark here. Using stereo forward facing speakers, as well as a dual chip DAC/AMP combo from AKM... This phone is LOUD. I mean incredibly loud. This phone was able to drive a full set of audio enthusiast (audiophile) headphones loud enough to be painful. Yet, it remains crystal clear. 10/10 Speed: The AXON 7 comes equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. This is a quad core ARMv8a processor. This processor is using what is known as the Kryo core design. Very power efficient, and has the performance to power through any task, or game with no issues. This was the highest end processor available from Qualcomm right up to the release of the Snapdragon 830. The 830 was not available at release of the phone. Lastly in the speed category is RAM (Random Access Memory) think of this as a way to store data temporarily that needs to be accessed by the phone. The more memory that the phone has, the more applications can gain access to the data. Very important when multitasking. This phone comes loaded with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. 9/10 Storage: ZTE has made available a huge amount of onboard storage options. There are two models the 4GB RAM / 64GB Storage option, as well as the 6GB RAM / 128GB Storage device. Both of these devices are able to accept a microSD card up to 128GB. 10/10 Camera: This is the only place where the ZTE Axon 7 falls down a bit. In well lit areas this camera will take beautiful shots, and if you are very careful to not shake the camera too much... it does okay in lower light situations. However, if there are any fast moving objects in front of this camera (especially in low light) expect them to be a blur. With that said, once you understand the quirks of the camera it is easy to get some very nice shots from this 20 megapixel shooter. 7/10 Build Quality: This all aluminum slab of awesome has some of the best build quality that I have ever seen. I would put it on par with the HTC One series, and the Samsung Note 5. All the edges are nicely rounded, and there is nothing to catch in a pocket. Conclusion is ... well this is exactly what I like to see. Nearly all the performance of the top tier phones in the world, and almost no drawback to paying less than half as much for it. Get one! You won't be disappointed.

  • Great phone.

My first phone was a ZTE zMAX z970. I loved that phone. I loved that it had Dolby audio. The axon 7 with the Dolby Atmos thingy sounds great in my truck. That's it. I love this phone. The battery doesn't last as long as I had hoped it would but the other features overshadow that so I'm still okay with it.

  • Bottom line: I love this phone

This is still a phenomenal phone 3+ years after launch. The screen at least as good as the most expensive Galaxy or iPhone - brightness and resolution are outstanding. The speakers are the loudest and clearest on any cell phone. The high end audio DACs (for a phone) and a wired headphone jack makes listening to music so much better compared to the very best bluetooth headphones. The Snapdragon 820 processor is 3 generations out of date but is still plenty fast for gaming. Potential downside is security and spyware - ZTE, like Huawei, is basically a Chinese government agency.

  • Axon 7 Great phone

The axon 7 is basically a flag ship phone for cheap (2016) but it still performs great and has everything u could want. The dual font Speakers and 2k screen (1440p) are awesome. If u can find this phone used for under 250$ is highly recommended even by 2018 standards. It does have some quirks such as non illuminated capacitive buttons but overall great phone. NOT reccomnded for use on CDMA carriers ( sprint Verizon). Uses a Nano sim and can hold 2

  • Really good phone to have as backup!!

Good backup phone, fits my needs perfectly. Battery life isn't as long as I had hoped, but it still is great for managing my monthly schedule, calculator use, looking at and editing documents, and other cool features to mess around with to help me throughout the day.

  • Best purchase on ebay!

Love this phone! Bought almost a year ago, still feels like new. Great camera, quick! Also great sound! Mine came with Dolby Atmos which allows you to tailor the sound to your liking. Why pay for expensive IPhone? Get a Spigen cover, so happy!
