  • Excellent reprint.

Reprinting Silver Age comics can be problematic. Marvel Comics never got the hang of it - they seem to be ashamed that they ever used the 4 colour process. I bought a TPB of Jim Steranko's Nick Fury comics and was appalled by how unfaithful the reproduction was, and I found out recently that Steranko himself said he would spit in the eye of anyone who praised it. DC's Silver Age Classics reproduced the originals pretty much as they originally appeared, most importantly with faithful colouration. Compare the gaudy flat colours in the Marvel Milestones comics and you'll see what I mean. Marvel seems intent on ruining enjoyment of Jack Kirby's lines of force by battering the eyes into submission with strong, unnatural colours. The whole range of DC's Silver Age Classics, on the other hand, is very pleasing to read, and a good way of finding out what comics looked like back then.
