    The Go-To electrical contact cleaner

(Aside: Seriously, can one describe this product as "enjoyable"? It's just not an applicable term, like, is transmission fluid "enjoyable"?) As a collector of vintage electronics, I use Deoxit D5S6 (and other Deoxit products) regularly. Use it before resorting to taking apart delicate (i.e., old) switches. It also improves connectivity with household plugs and switches, but use sparingly. "Knock offs" of Deoxit just don't seem to work as well and as long in my experience. If the spray does not work, it's back to careful disassembly of the item and judicious use of needle files...very time consuming but necessary. For bulky, robust electrical connections, consider almost any brand of dielectric gel. Finally, once while driving an older car, the ignition switch stopped working. Just by coincidence, I happened to have Deoxit in the trunk. A couple of quick sprays, allowing time to evaporate, and the car was on the road again. So, it's mechanically useful, too.

Put back the old valve / spray tube; otherwise OK

The product itself works as well as ever but the new valve / sprey tube is a definite downgrade. As users know it is often difficult to reach the points where the spray is needed; the new thick, stiff tube won't bend around corners, fit into switch / pot openings, etc. as easily as the old one. Also the massive, stiff trigger is more difficult to control; it's off or blast when you may only need to precisely apply a drop or two. This could be done with a rocking pressure to the old valve. PLEASE PUT BACK THE OLD VALVE / TUBE - even longer & more flexible. (im going to cut down the new tube, drill the end & fuse the old tube into it,)

  • Holy crap!!!

I purchased this to clean up the potentiometers (pots) that control the volume, bass, treble, and balance on a 1979 solid state tuner that I was given. The balance was very crackly and hardly had a left channel on speakers 'a' or 'b'. After giving them a good spray with this a couple times and a couple of days to dry, this thing works and sounds as new!!!! If you need this for cleaning electrical connections, you cannot go worng with buying this!!

  • Miracle liquid..

My vintageTechnic turntable's pitch control was inconsistent. Wouldn't hold speed. Couple squirts of DeoxIT and it smoothed out instantly. Didn't even have to take it apart. Just sprayed under dial. Amazing stuff. Going to use it on an old KLH Model 24, see if it will bring it back to life.

  • A gem of a Product

This product is fabulous for alleviating noises, hisses, and pops in electronic equipment due to oxidation or other age-related issues with switches and other parts. I use it on my vintage stereo equipment (1970's tuner-amplifier and reel-to-reel deck) and it keeps the gear in near perfect condition, free of annoying noises. Amazingly, I've also used it on the electronic control board and throttle for the electric motor on my boat. It totally eliminated corrosion issues. It keeps my motor humming all summer long.

  • Great cleaner!

I repair audio equipment for a high end Audio/Video shop in Colorado Springs, and this product always amazes me on how good it works. Any switch or control that you can get to and get the cleaner in the device always works like new. I have used this on old radios from the 1930's and 1940's and it just seems to always work. A lot of the switches used on audio equipment from the 1970's and on are usually hard to get to the actual contacts, so I have to use a drill bit and a Dremel tool to drill a small hole in the top or end of the switch to get the cleaner inside. This product is amazing.

  • Deoxit Best for Vintage Radios and electronics

This is a great product that will clean oxidation from switch contacts in electronics. I have tried other products but none are as good for cleaning and lubricating rotary switches in my vintage shortwave and ham radios. Its also great for cleaning volume controls and other variable resistors. A drop or two applied with a swab will sometimes bring an old radio back to life. Worth every penny!

  • Deoxit And save it

I just want anybody out there who knows electronics that deoxit is the best cleaner spray out there .what a lot of people do not know is that when your old receiver starts to act up like when you turn up the volume it crakels in your speakers or the balance nob seens to not work right or tape mon cuts out chances are all your unit needs is a good switch and all buttons deoxed that cleans all the oxydation out and restores you unit to good working again. if you talk to most service shop that is what most of them use .it is a realy great product all i can say try it and you will never go back to what you were using thanks.

  • A bit expensive but Great stuff

Deoxit is the one and only for restoring audio devices. Cleans corrosion from Potentiometers switches and is not too harsh to become damaging. I have used that freeon stuff and it is not the same. Will not remove corrosion like Deoxit. At $ 15.00 plus per can it is not cheap but can go a long way if you don't spray too much. The can does have 3 setting low med and high. Even the low setting is too much and wastes quite a bit. If they were to improve they could work on a lower spray pressure level and also have a longer and more flexible straw. sometimes I find their straw a bit short or hard to bend for spraying in hard to reach or almost inaccessible places. Over all a great product with no competition that I am aware of.

  • DeoxIT D5 Contact cleaner. The ONLY one you'll ever need.

Since I've discovered DeoxIT D5 contact cleaner, there has been no looking back at any former products I've used. This takes care of every possible contact cleaner need, the problems NEVER come back. Loosens gunky pots and switches and continues to work on them after they have already freed up and started working again. The parts actually get cleaner and less gunky as your using your gear. After 40 years as a professional musician, this is FINALLY the real deal that we have all been waiting for. Spray NEW GEAR and it won't allow things to get nasty. You won't have to worry about gunky gear in the future!
