This is a great preventative and also a cure for most EGR valve issues, which can really pull older vehicles down by throwing faults and reducing performance. Ideally if you can strip the EGR valve and clean it then it will perform better but failing that, and you want a quick fix then this is the stuff. Good - its made by a recognised manufacturer and if you are disassembling your engine anyway it will probably work very well. If your car/van has a really blocked egr valve and you have to take it off anyway it very well may save you a lot of scrubbing. Bad - if you are wanting to service the intake system as preventative maintenance its not very convenient as the parts should be removed from the vehicle to carry this out, whereupon it becomes a very part specific cleaner. There are cleaners that just require the air inlet hose disconnecting from the engine side of the filter, with the warm engine running it is steadily sprayed in until the canister is empty and it cleans everything through to the egr valve.

Made short work of cleaning out a gummed up egr valve. Be prepared to get filthy in the process (gloves, safety glasses and blue roll essential) and it needed several applications together with some judicious scraping. Also do this outside as the fumes are quite strong.
