Must have for cable accessed internet
I seriously cannot believe I have not looked into purchasing my own modem/router combo sooner. I have been paying the rental fee since I got cable internet in 2014, and once I bought this I realized all of the wasted money over the past few years.
I just cut the cord with traditional cable to stream everything, due to the price being outrageous. I upped my internet package from 100 mb to 300 mb, and TWC swapped out the modem/router with a new one. I then purchased this one a couple weeks later since I got tired of paying for the modem rental fee. I was averaging about 70-80 mbps download speed on the ARRIS modem/router TWC had provided during peak hours, about 1/4 to 1/5 of what I was paying for. Once I installed this and called customer service to activate, my first download test (at about 4:30-5pm during christmas break, so you know all kinds of people are using the internet) my first speedtest was 233 mbps d/l speed, 11 mbps u/l speed, with a 15 m/s ping. I am just floored it performs so much better straight out of the box than the junk TWC provides you with. I have not adjusted any settings or tried any different channels yet, this was straight out of the box and hooked up to my co/ax cable. Finally happy with my internet service.
Oh, and one more thing, when I returned my modem My bill went down substantially as well. From being quoted 69.99 originally with a rented modem/router, my bill is now quoted at 44.99 or 45.99 a month for the basic internet access package with 300 speed.
