First, the cost - as too many peoples these days (especially 'merkins), seem to base all their purchasing decisions solely on price - this is BAD. What is GOOD is to decide, based on impartial reviews and QUALITY - which is what I have done. These are an essential component of any emergency Tin or pocket Emergency Kit - though the handle makes 'em a tad large for some of the smaller tins. Best option - use a bigger tin or Otterbox or something similar, which will hold one of these, a Med C kit, a Victorinox Explorer, "Light-My-Fire" Firesteel, an LED Lenser AAA single-cell flashlight plus spare (Lithium), battery, a mirror, a compass, plus whatever other essentials can be squeezed in then sealed around the edges with insulating tape - don't forget to add a folded-back tab to the end of this tape. So, aside from the handle and its line, you get a couple of bare hooks, two hooked lures, weights & swivels - all packed in a heavy-duty, compact ziploc bag, with basic instructions. Fishing in a survival situation will not be a sporting activity, so this kit will put food on the fire, if you find yourself in extremis, near running or still water. The line and swivels may also be used to make snares, providing more versatility. in short, don't just buy one - buy Three, at least...!Read full review
