This shredder is relatively quiet in operation compared to impact shredders, which have just a couple of very high speed blades. The Bosch has a rotary cutter running at a lower speed, which makes it quieter. It is particularly good at tackling larger branches, chopping them into small pieces, rather than the chips you get with an impact shredder. It handles creepers well, being less inclined to get choked than the impact shredder, but the pieces generally are a little larger. It has a reverse button to release any jams, but I still needed to unfasten the chute and pull bits out occasionally. Apart from the slightly larger shreddings, the other downside is its weight and size compared to the impact shredder. However, it feels much more sturdy than my old impact shredder, and I expect it to be reliable. The best bit is its relative quietness, which means I'm less likely to put off the shredding for fear of deafening the neighbours, so my garden should end up just a little tidier.Read full review

I purchased this as most of my tools are Bosch and all have been very good, Sadly this Bosch cant even chew a conifer branch without clogging up, when I put a dry branch in it chopped it but it still remained intact. I cannot see any use or reason to buy such a useless machine

We had some small trees to dispose of plus my wife was busily buying bags of mulch for the garden...it seemed a no brainer to buy a tool to combine the two. its extremely easy to use, can easily cope with branches up to 45mm although it does prefer relatively "fresh" branches rather than stuff that was chopped down months prior to shredding. its also quite hypnotic watching it chomp through some eight foot long branches so the kids got involved with feeding it too. It prefers not too much foliage so if you can pick your time of year however it will munch up branches in full leaf but will require a bit more "clearing" of the cutting tool. Surprisingly quiet compared to a spinny blade one I tried some years ago, all in all this seems a very well made (and 100% safe ) tool ...and you can make more than enough mulch to keep anyone's partner happy.Read full review

Bought one to dispose of garden twigs and branches more easily. It does, but is sometimes a "ffaff" - like trying to shred wet conifer branches or twisted branches. Pays to have the chainsaw / handsaw / secateurs handy to cut off side branches or twists. Yes, glad I have it, but it's not as "all -consuming" as I'd hoped

This is my 3rd Bosch shredder, what an improvement. More powerful, upgraded blade system, well designed. Just completed shredding a fully grown apple tree. From twigs to 40mm no problem, I only stopped it twice when I exceeded 40mm, when there was a knuckle joint. Just stopped and reversed shredder and carried on. Most branches were 1500mm long 20-30+mm, whole tree cut , shredded , 4 barrows full of mulched branches. All done in about 3 hours. Job done, my tree was nearly 4 m high, not bad for an olden. Not the tree Me ha ha. Some twigs where still joined, -10mm ones no problem put in compost bin. Merry Xmas. Keep safe.
