Solid stone walls (500mm) take approx 5hrs to get through. The drift snapped after approx 10hrs use. I don’t understand why as I fooled the instructions and cool down recommendations hence the 5hrs above now trying to get a replacement drift which doesn’t seem easy...?
The set is well laid out and all the items looked as if they were of good quality! However the tapered pilot drill bit did not grip and kept working loose! Eventually I had enough location with the main core engaged in the concrete that I took out the loose pilot bit and set it aside.
The size of hole I was drilling was 110mm to suit a 4" soil pipe in a precast concrete drain wall. The bit was quite worn after one use, it'll probably cut one more hole in concrete or a concrete block before needing to be replaced?
I would suggest that the tapered pilot bit is sanded to remove the cad-plating, which may allow it to grip on the taper better
