    Excellent starter set for price.

Bargain priced version of more expensive hand tools, perfect for a chair dependant gardener. These extend fairly easily and do lock when twisted, unfortunately the locks are unreliable and loosen in use, requiring frequent resetting. This is common in more expensive tools too. Too much pressure will bend them at weak points. This set do not have hanging loops, but that's no biggie, either. They fit the larger spring clips or you could fix a string or chain loop fairly easily.. I stand mine in a tool rack, so that works well. I would suggest that anyone buying these also got a patio/weeding knife for severing roots as these are not quite man enough for that. Nice chunky comfy grips and the shaft is coated or painted. The blade ends wear in use, so cleaning and oiling will help keep them useful for longer.

  • Most critical review

Not as good as it looks and doesn’t function well.

Could do with being longer and have two secure notched that doesn’t slip down when you are using it. And the trowel not a good shape and doesn’t penetrate the soil as good as it should do..but disappointed with what I tried out up to now.but the are all a bit too short would suit a 4ft person!

  • lightweight with good features

These are well made garden tools suitable for light soil. However, if the soil is slightly firmer or the plants to be dug up have extensive roots requiring more strength to remove them the extendable handles slide up and down as they cannot be fixed completely, and this can be slightly annoying, but on the whole the quality of the tools is good.

  • Problem solved

I had been looking for something like this for a while, I recently had my left hip replaced and bending down is still a task, this has solved that also you don't always want the big shovel or fork but you need to reach something awkward, these are perfect. Well made and very flexible.

  • Make the handles to stay extended, even when heavy pressure is used on them.

My only disappointment with the hand tools is the fact that the handles seem to"collapse" when any heavy pressure is put on them. This is a problem for me because I'm gardening in very heavy clay soil

  • cheap & cheerful

Serves it's purpose, but when the handle is fully extended it tends to unlock itself & retract when pressure or twisting is applied. I wanted to use it fully extended so I drilled through both handle parts & fitted a 6mm set screw & nut. Now it's 'just the job'.

  • Good enough for well maintained , easy soils,

The material the tools are made from bends easily in any medium soil but is suitable for the bagged John Innes number 2 I use for raised beds.

  • easy to use

I find it a great help as i am disabled and have trouble bending down

  • Good value

I am very pleased with the quality and value. Unfortunately I cannot get the tools to stay extended which is what I particularly wanted as I have back problem. I shall have to resort to sellotape !!

  • Two items are good one is very poor

The claw and trowel are very good but the fork is poor quality and prongs bend very easy
