too flimsy
I first used the intended micro red dot "primary arms " which is a lightweight and truly micro red dot sight. before I even began shooting I noticed the sight moving side to side. I removed the sight and mount, reinstalling it with loctite, wheeler torque wrench, and let it sit overnight to allow the loctite to cure. as soon as I picked it up, same issue. the mount was secured to the pistol, dot sight was absolutely secure to the mount and still it wobbles. The mount itself is flexing with the sight mounted to it. It is not rigid enough to mount a red dot.
I then switched the sight to a Vortex Venom, which only weighs 3 ounces, and tried again.
If you shake the pistol, you can still see slight movement from the flex. When shooting, leaning the pistol on a rest would change the point of impact by several inches vs shooting offhand.
It will work if you don't allow anything to contact the mount while shooting and use a very lightweight sight.
I intended to use it to enjoy squirrel hunting with my p22 , being able to rest it against a tree or a branch. It clearly doesn't work for my needs. It simply isn't stiff enough to support an external red dot sight for any other purpose than offhand target shooting. And of course, a bit of visual movement does not inspire confidence when it comes to hunting. other than a costly replacement slide or having the slide cut for a red dot, I can't find a more economic solution. Sorry, I had high hopes!
