Much better than the Battery Tenders IMO
This is the second Unit I have bought, first one for myself, and the second for my Father who owns a VW Touareg SUV, which very inconveniently has its battery under the Driver's Seat. (Fortunately does have Charging Lugs under the Hood though)
The unit I personally own I've had for about 3-1/2 years now, love how it works, and what it does. I've had absolutely no problems with mine, works in any weather, but I'd suggest shielding it from water, rains, and such. It is small enough that it can usually be positioned somewhere under the hood if parked outside, and the AC Cable routed out of the vehicle at the hood-fender seam.
I like that it comes with two types of Cables for connection to a Battery. Either Terminal Lugs for a more permanent attachment, or Color Coded Alligator Clips for quick temporary attachment to either Top or Side Posts. Added convenience is a fool proof 2-Prong Quick Connect Plug to attach these shorter harnesses to the Main Charger Unit.
No Switches, Dials, etc to complicate its use, hook up connections to Battery, plug in, and let it do its job. The lights will tell you condition, percentage of charge, and pulse desulfate the Battery. The time ittakes will be variable, upon the condition and amount of charge. Might take 20 or so minutes, and might need to remain hooked up for multiple hours, but it will get the job done.
No worries of frying a battery, these are not like the cheap run of the mill $30 trickle chargers which can often be of too high a voltage hitting your Battery as the amperage tapers down.
One will be surprised that even with a new Battery, that usually 100% of the time you will find them not to be fully 100% charged. That Alternators don't often charge a battery up to 100% charge.
I'm extremely pleased with these Chargers, cannot say enough good about them. They will pay for themselves with much longer Battery Life, and better insurance of not finding yourself stuck somewhere with a dead Battery
