This was perfectly adequate to put eyelets in my boots after a couple had fallen out. I would only use it to put eyelets in and not too sure how well it would punch holes. The eyelets that came with the tool work fine, I tried some I already had of identical size and for some reason the tool made a mess of them. However when all said and done it's a handy and sturdy enough tool for occasional use. Recommended. No issues.

I managed to start quite well with this tool pressing the eyelets together quite easily but as I continued they seemed to get harder to use and took more squeezing to get the eyelets to close - increasingly more difficult and after around 80 or so eyelets (not even used the 100 free ones that came with it) the pliers were just too distorted to close the jaws properly and could not fit the eyelets properly - I had 1000 I wanted to do but didn't manage 100. I ended up buying a press which will work out better for future work on this and did the job easily and quickly and didn't even flinch at doing another 900 +. I suppose that makes this a good tool if you want to use it and dispose after a small number of eyelets but not a tool for your tool box to use again and again.

I used a standard every day plier but wouldn't go through thicker leather. This did the trick perfectly.
